Audiosnap difficulties

In Sonar 8.5 I could just selet a clip and hit F12 - and I could quantize the audio.

Now , in Sonar X1, things seem different, F12 no longer works and if I activate audiosnap via the menu I still can't create any transient markers.

How does it work in Sonar X1?

Another thing that used to be nice was the U-key which was like undo button for the zoom function. It doesn't seem to be there now.

Any ideas about this?

    1. click "edit filter" and select "audio transients"
    2. undo zoom = alt+z

    Thanks,

I found the undo zoom, but where is "Edit Filter"? There's the "Edit Clip Map" however and if i click that the transient markers appear - I can't quantize them though.

In every track header, there's a new field called the Edit Filter. It has a drop-down arrow that lets you select what you want to work on. It defaults to Clips, so that's probably what's showing in the field now.

Took me a while to figure this out for showing transient markers, too.

Click on "Clips" right under the track name, select "Audio transients". If you want the Audiosnap menu, press A. To add a new transient marker, Control-Alt-I (same as before).

    Ok, I almost got it.

I still can't quantize the audio though..? If I use the quantize function the audio doens't move a single bit.

Hmmm... yeah. Just tried a quick test, and got no movement of audio when quantizing. Might be some other magical setting you need to make in X1 to get AS going. Snap to grid doesn't seem to be working when I drag transients either.

Have to look into this more later when I have a chance. Unimagineable that it got out of Beta without this working, so there must be a trick.

Also be sure to read the complete Smart Tools section in the Help guide.

There are some transient/audio snap related moves presented.

    Bump.

Anyone else tried to quantize audio? Still not happening here. And I still can't get transient makers to snap to grid manually, either. What are we missing?

The Audiosnap panel pops up fine. The qunatize function doesn't work.

    Something's wrong...

C'mon guys. Where's the love? It'll take you two shakes to test audio quantizing and snap to grid for transients.

    Same here.

Quantizing does not work. I choose the transient view and then the quantize option
from the AudioSnap palette. Nothing happens. In 8.5.3 it works properly.

I'm doing a remix work and wanted to correct some drum tracks. So I'm back on
    8.5.3. No chance in X1.

Most of the AS features are crippled, broken, and / or buggy to the point that AS is almost useless....this was the case in 8.5.3 and is still probably the case with X1!!!

The new UI and workflow features in X1 may seem great on the surface, but if Sonar's main features, of which AudioSnap is one, is crippled....what's the use of better workflow?

Ok, I guess it's a bug then. I'm also back on 8.5 for the same reason.

Ok I'm still on 8.53 so can't test this out, but has anyone sent in a bug report?

I'm suprised no one from CW has chipped in, however they do make it very clear that submitting a bug report (not just flagging up problems on the forum) is the way to go!

This is just plain nonsense. I've been using AudioSnap fairly heavily ever since it was first introduced, which is something like four years ago. Sure, it's a bit cranky, but "almost useless"?

I raised this question a week ago but no one bothered to answer. If audio snap is not working whats the point in upgrading. Perhaps service pack 1 will have a fix. If not I stay with 8.5

Audio transient quantize isn't working here too. This is very problematic since I'm working with ProChannel and going back to 8.5 means losing all the comp/eq/etc work done there.

I have it enabled in one of my main templates created in 8.5, and can't disable it in X1. The context menu option is always grayed out. I assume this is what you're seeing...?

I'm also having problems when manually editing audio transients. When I modify the % of the detection threshold, some transients become magically impossible to move/disable/etc.
