Auditioning Session Drummer 3 Samples
I’m creating a custom kit in SD3, loading in different samples for each of the instruments (i.e. kick, snare, toms, etc.). I thought I’d be able to use the browser to audition the sounds as long as I selected SD3 as the synthesizer output, but the files won’t even show up. I know I can load the sample in SD3 and try it but it’s a long process. I love the audition functionality in the browser and was hoping for something along the same lines. Can anyone help me out there?

Not sure I understand you question. When you go to audition sounds you can't see them in the browser? If you can't see them then you can't audition them, but that seems like a different problem than not being able to 'hear' them. I choose my 'main outs' for the audio preview bus. See if that works to hear them. Not sure how to 'see' them.

I did figure out how to get them to appear in the browser window by selecting all file types but I'm still not able to preview them there. I did select SD3 as the synth preview output but still no sounds.. I guess it's not possible..?

Yeah it's possible. I do it all the time. From the post above "I choose my 'main outs' for the audio preview bus. See if that works to hear them." Or try another bus from the drop down menu.

No luck! Mabe because the samples have an .flac or .sfz extension?

The original post never got an answer? Or I am missing answer? SD3 uses .flac files. How do I preview these to select among? I think that was the original poster's question. Maybe. But it IS mine. Please

I don't know of a way to audition individual sounds when building a kit. I always have to go ahead and load them, try them then move on.

Seth, Can you clarify? Suppose I have loaded a drum kit but don't like the crash cymbal. I can click on the cymbal, browse through kits, and load another cymbal--but I can't hear what it sounds like until I have loaded it into my kit. how would I just run through the individual sounds (cymbals or snares or whatever) so I could hear them and note what I liked?

Hi guys, I am also looking for this answer. how can I audition the SD3 sounds without loading into the kit? I tried media browser, but the flacs and sfzs don't show up (I know they are there because I can see them with explorer).

Audition them from the "one shots" folder in the browser, then drag the ones you want to use into Session Drummer. See the video Seth posted at exactly 4:00 (the 4 minute mark)

Shoot I missed the fact that this was an X1 forum. My bad. Anyone know how to do this in 8.5?

OK, great. The video starting at the 4:00 mark is exactly what I needed. Thanks for posting, Seth, and thanks to others for clarifying. You can audition sounds and then drag them right into the Session Drummer 3 mixer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgCQYe0qyPs
