Auditioning velocity changes in PRV.....
In PRV...I used to be able to hover above the note and click to adjust the velocity...and I could hear the note sounding as I adjusted it. Now....if I try to adjust the velocity....I hear nothing. It is changing the velocity...but I can't "preview" the changes as I am doing them. Is this another setting I am missing? This worked fine in both X1 and X2 before I did the reinstall. I searched the help file and found nothing.

I've never seen that feature before but you can audition notes by using the scrub tool by holding the "J" key and dragging the mouse over them. Steve

Thank you Karl....I knew it was there somewhere. Thing is...I was almost certain that it was on by default because I don't remember ever turning it on. I just knew it was a really nice feature to use to be able to adjust the velocity of a note.

Ok, I must be dumb or something, I've now set this option. So... how does one use it? I'm in the PRV, trying to use the velocity audition. Under Notes, I've checked "Show Velocity" and "Show Velocity Tails" but nothing I do lets me do this. Is there another setting somewhere?

Bristol...move your cursor to the top of the note in PRV.....it will change to an icon that looks similar to a "mountain" for a lack of a better word. Then click and drag your mouse up and down...it will change the velocity of the note and you can hear it as it changes. Awesome feature...!

What's good about this too is....you can highlight all the notes in the track in PRV....and adjust the velocity of ALL of them at the same time.

Gotcha. Thanks Ted. This is brilliant for me at the moment - I'm piecing together an orchestral piece and I want to inject some life into the dynamics of individual instruments, and simple applying any sort of randomness with the Velocity tool isn't cutting it. This is perfect

If you don't want a cacophony of sound with mulitple note selections deselect the "polyphonic Velocity Audition" option in preferences, then you'll only hear the one you actual click on as opposed to all of those selected.

Thanks Karl, is note velocity auditioning new for X2 or have I been sitting in the dark again? BTW, any notes you select together will be edited together on all fronts. Steve

No - you used to be able to do this back 8.3 I believe - maybe even earlier - but the implementation was slightly different.

We've improved the cacophony dramatically in X2. If the note you click is in a chord, the whole chord is auditioned. If the notes you select are spaced, we play only the single note clicked. Try it out. You might find it more useful now.

Don't feel too bad - I've just found out I could have the polyphonic audition option on since X2 came out without any danger of going deaf.
