Auto Zoom for Console View Channel Strips (i.e. Auto-Widen)

I'd like to see an option for Auto Zoom in the Console View, which would expand the current channel strip to wide mode, and leave all the others narrow. (Maybe there could be an allowance for one wide strip in each pane, i.e. one wide track channel strip, one wide bus channel strip, etc., like how the Track View allows for one zoomed track and one zoomed bus.)

This would be a great help with organization and focus in projects with a moderate/large number of tracks.

I'm actually pretty surprised the option doesn't already exist, given the wonderful advent of Auto Zoom in the Track View.

(PS: Sorry if such a feature has already been suggested; I didn't find mention of it here.)

Maybe a Wide/Narrow button on each strip? Though it can already be done by right click->"Narrow Strip".

Giving this a little bump, if I may, as I really think this (oddly nonexistent) functionality could be advantageous to a lot of users!

Being we can colour the fader caps differently for narrow and wide, this could also make them jump out a little.

Maybe a Wide/Narrow button on each strip? Though it can already be done by right click->"Narrow Strip".

This would be my choice.  Auto-wide might be handy as an option too.  Narrowing/widening via right-click is too many clicks when you add them all up for the life of a project.  Plus, the last selected "sticks" for the next track you add.  When I add a track I am prolly going to work with it immediately.  If the last sizing I did was to narrow a strip, the new strip is added as narrow.  Then I have to widen it to work with it.

A tiny little button -always visible- that toggles narrow/wide without "sticking" would smooth out CV flow for me quite a bit.

@dimelives1 Are you referring to double clicking a track in track view to maximize it? In CV they would have to find a hotspot somewhere for the mouse clicks. CV is made up of hide-able modules except the Name/Number mod at the bottom, which is always visible. Currently, double clicking it serves other functions but they could add a button or hotspot there.

BTW, a button is nothing more that a visible, sometimes interactive, hotspot.

I love auto zoom in track view, in fact it was the feature that finally weaned me off 8.5 onto the X series. I would love to see in in the console view.

    Hi soens,

I'm talking about behavior akin to Auto Zoom in the Track View, in which (single-)clicking on a track or bus automatically enlarges it and minimizes all other tracks/busses respectively.

In the case of the Track View, the clicked track or bus enlarges to whatever height you've set as standard.

With the behavior I'm proposing for the Console View, the clicked channel strip (track or bus) would expand to wide mode, and all others would minimize to narrow.

This would be especially helpful for projects with a lot of tracks or other things going on in which it becomes easy to lose sight of what you're trying to focus on in the window.

I said double click cause in X1-X3 that's how it worked. In Splat it's only 1 click?

Single-clicking is all that's required for the Auto Zoom feature, which is what I'm referring to -- not the maximize track function. Were you aware of this feature?
