Auto crossfade question

I really used to master this feature a while ago but with the take lanes, I do not get it. I really like auto crossfades when I do vocals edits but when I work within a single take lane, I cannot get them to work (and maybe it doesn't make sense in a single take lane). Also I tried sliding takes across multiple lanes but no luck either - no auto crossfades. And I have the option enabled in the options menu. How can I get auto crossfades when I slide one clip on another?
