Auto crossfades across multiple tracks not working in Sonar Platinum 2016.07
I noticed that auto crossfade with slip editing doesn't work across multiple tracks with this new update. For example, I record multi tracked drums (which are grouped). I cut out a section and move it somewhere, and then do a slip edit (with all of the clips selected) to fill the gap and create an auto crossfade across all of the tracks and it will only auto crossfade across the one I am doing the slip edit with. It will animate the crossfades across the rest of the tracks but as soon as I unclick, the crossfade only exists on the track used to do the edit. This makes this new update unusable for me and I'm sure a number of other users. Btw, I would have reported this problem through the problem reporter but, 1. I never hear back from anyone or see any results from doing that 2. I can't even find the problem reporter link on the site anymore Thanks in advance.

I can't reproduce a problem with this, but maybe I'm getting something wrong because I don't understand the intent. As-described, you will just be filling the gap with a copy of the original audio and adding an unnecessary xfade (the audio in the slip-edited clip will be identical to the audio it's xfading against). Why not just Ctrl+Drag the selection to create a copy?

I had noticed a similar issue. Although with my issue I was tightening up some drums and I would cut them and move them slightly. Then I would slip edit them to cross-fade with the previous clip. It would cross fade all of the selected tracks except for one. I had to select that clip separately and move it again to get the cross fade to show up. The clip was moving with the others but the cross fade was just not being made.

Thanks for responding guys. Yeah Brundlefly, maybe I wasn't clear in my post. The scenario I wrote out was just a non functional example of how to reproduce the bug, not something I'm attempting to do.
In real world work, I am usually dealing with 200+ tracks and the people I work for expect every note/hit to be perfectly on time (with many instruments tracked with many mics). So I have to be editing extremely fast, which means even when editing a single guitar take (with palm mutes or defined strumming) made up of 3 mics and a DI, I'll be making 60+ cuts, nudges, slip fills (and auto cross fades when it used to work) a minute. With this kind of pressure/time expectations, this bug just completely destroys my ability to deliver.
ReginaldStJohn described a similar bug to the one I am experiencing if you want another example (although it seems a bit more functional than my problem).

Now that I think about it, we were just recording acoustic guitar with two mics per take for the song I was working on before I experienced the bug and immediately rolled back so it's possible that the bug is exactly the same as what ReginaldStJohn was describing and I just assumed it would occur across 3+ tracks similarly.

Hmmm... OK. I just tried again, and got the bad result described in your first post. Guess I just got lucky the first time.

I've had this problem recently, while editing multitrack drums. Still exists in the new early release too.

brundlefly This is fixed in the latest Early Access release: http://forum.cakewalk.com...vailable-m3467714.aspx
Wow. They really messed things up and had to rework them with this one! My biggest concern is reading that the fade indicators are being removed. How the heck is that supposed to work? Grum.

Hmm. It works ok now, but there's a new display bug on cross fades. I'm getting waveforms drawn in silent parts of the clip, and they stretch as if the clip is being time stretched. Also seems to depend on zoom level and scroll position in some way. Hard to describe.

This is IIRC the second time the Early Access revealed bugs that need to be fixed before the final release.

Can you elaborate and post a screenshot of what you are seeing? We did not see any obvious issues with drawing cross fades.

Yes, sorry, meant to do this earlier but was busy and forgot. So, in the first image, see how I've got a clip, split in the middle of some silence: Now see how I've dragged the edge of the right hand clip to overlap with the left. This area is still silent, but it draws in a waveform. The area is still silent on playback: In the last image, I've dragged the edge out further. Notice how the phantom waveform is now wider as if stretched. This area is still silent.

Assuming that's the parent track, what do you see when expanding Take Lanes? It looks like a muted clip sitting between the two others.

So the waveform bug I was talking about above is fixed in the final release. What a brilliant thing the monthly update cycle is. Three day turnaround to report the thing and see it sorted out. Something like that could have hung around for ages in the old way of doing things. Hats off to Cakewalk, and especially Noel and Logan who went to the trouble to contact me directly about it. The only weak link was me, not getting back to them very quickly.
