Automating CHANNEL TOOLS (Stereo panning)

Hey all,

Say you have a wide stereo track that you have shrinked (using CHANNEL TOOLS), bringing its edges in from hard L/R and you are happy with it in the mix.  Now at a certain point you want to pan that track from hard L/R creating a large pan.  Would you automate both  CHANNEL TOOLs L/R controls to do this or use some other Panning plugin on top of it in FXbin?

It would make sense to try automating Channel Tools to see if it would produce the effect you want.

Ditto. Most common application for me is positioning a stereo track to one side until that instrument takes its solo, when it's spread wide. So most of the time I'm only automating the left or right position slider, but sometimes I like to do exactly what's suggested in this thread: change an instrument from mono to stereo for dramatic effect.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
