Automating Dreamstation DXI2

I'm trying to automate the Dreamstation but the documentation seems to be missing soemthing, or lelse I am. I'd like to automate the knobs on LFOs, oscilators, etc. The documentation for the Dreamstation says you can, and the Cakewalk docs say to create an Envelope > track Envelope. However, the control panel that pops up for the Dreamstation is blank. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

SYSTEM:

P4 3.06 ghz, 2 gig RAM
2 500 gig HDs
Windows XP SP 2, all updates

MIDI:
M Audio USB Midisport 1x1

EXTERNAL KEYBOARD:
Korg X3

USING:
Cakewalk Sonar Studio Edition 6.2

    Right click in the MIDI track, not the synth audio track.
    Select Envelopes>Create Track Envelope>MIDI.
    You will get a second panel where you can select which control(s) you want to create an envelope for.
