Automating MIDI FX Plugin

I added a MIDI FX plugin to a track.  The plugin is "Cakewalk FX Echo Delay".

I'd like to automate the plugin, so that when I move the mouse around the X and Y grid (which affects echoes and decay), my movements get recorded.

I've automated plugin parameters before with audio FX, but can't figure out how to do it with MIDI FX.

Is it even possible?

Since I'm at my DAW, I took a quick look.  I actually don't see a way *yet* to automate that.

That's an interesting idea, Tripecac - I can confirm Billy's answer that there isn't a way to automate that.

But frankly, I feel you're better off getting an "echo/delay" effect working in the Audio realm.  It's much more flexible anyway, beyond the fact that the Audio FX can be automated.

So use a similar audio FX either on your synth's audio output track, or, I think preferably, add the effect after your MIDI track is bounced down to Audio for your final mix.

    Randy,

I agree that generaly using an AUDIO FX works out better, but there are times when a MIDI effect can be cool too - and not being able to automate those MIDI plugins is a bit outdated for sure.

The whole world has gotten into "automation" of everything these days, so Cake needs to do a little catchin' up on those particular non-automatable plugins.
