Automation Snapshot... is it broken?

Is the Automation Snapshot functionality broken in Sonar X1?
 
According to the documentation:
 
Right-click the control and choose Automation Snapshot in the pop-up menu. You don’t have
to write-enable the track or bus module.
An indicator will appear on the control to show that automation has been added, and a node will
be added to the control's envelope on the track.
  
 
I have followed the steps outlined, but no envelope node is created for me. This applies to soft synths parameters as well as track controls (volume, pan).
 
Does anyone use this feature and has been able use it in X1? What can I be doing wrong?

    Correction, the feature works for track parameters. It's with softsynth controls that I seem to be having trouble with.
