Automation lanes default

Is there a way to change the Automation lane's forcing a volume envelope as the default ?
(I would prefer an empty lane if no automation editing has occured.)
thx

Hi. You could try to save a track template, and use as the standard template, with the volume envelope showing.
All the best.

Thanks Ken.
But, I don't want the volume envelope.
It is my understanding that volume envelopes are created by default in the automation lanes.
I don't want this to happen.

There is no way to create an empty automation lane. The volume or any other value may be reassigned at will. If you do not want any automation, do not open the automation lanes.

ya theres no automation envelope in a new track.
the "R" button in console view, if that's what your referring to is on by default but as long as there are no envelopes, nothing will change with automation.

its only on by default (the "R" = Read) so when you do create automation, you don't need to turn it on.

Chuck, If you open the automation lane, for whatever reason, a volume envelope is created.
At least on my (latest) version of Plat. Which locks whatever level you have set.

I haven't really studied how the envelopes work in Plat. So, I was just looking in the lanes to see what envelopes I had on some tracks (from 8.53 projects). (delay/verb send levels etc).
I'm not clear if any envelopes are automatically placed in those lanes.

But, yea, volume envelopes are created automatically unfortunately.

Correct...   Volume and Pan are the two default envelope types, in that order.   I don't believe there's any method to choose a different default type and certainly not empty.    You can, however, right-click on the new envelope and delete it.

I just made a template with track one's automation lane set to an eq control then turned the automation lane off. When I opened the template and opened track one automation lanes it defaulted to the eq control I had changed it to. So just make a project template with whatever you want the automation lane to automate selected then your automation lanes will no longer default to volume.
