Autosave Please!

I just got done working five hours on a track I'm trying to finish by halloween. It's not that I mind that X2 crashed(agian). I'm OK with it---But what I'm not Ok with is when I have Autosave Set and It does not function and there goes fives hours of really good production(at least to me) down the drain. Why does not my autosaveth fuctioneth???? To SAVE OR NOT TO SAVE THAT MAY BE A DEAL BREAKER. 2nd time Cake..Hope this don't happen agian.

    Ummmmm autosave works.

I have it set to save every 10 minutes.

Worst case, I lose 10 minutes worth of work.

I still to this day hit save after some mega operations.

I try to hit save BEFORE mega operations because those usually cause the crash.

Not sure what you're seeing but mine is set to 5 minutes and 20 changes (I work slower than Bapu) and it is definitely working here.

Are you opening the right file? It creates a copy called "Copy of your file name" it doesn't save into the original file at all (despite popular belief) so if you are opening that it won't appear anything has been saved.

    HTH

EDIT: Just another thought, it won't save while the transport is running either so if you've been looping for 5 hours solid and it crashed there won't be an autosave copy.

That is handled for me by the 10 minute rule.

yeah sorry I had to get away for a bit I was so mad. I watched it actually save a few times but when I reopened the project it was back where I started 5 hrs before. Where do I look for autosaved material/project info? I did alot of work and would like it back Karl.

open the project folder and the autosave files are named auto-save copy of <filename>.

Yes, but it only saves last edit work done and since I did not know where to reference it  I opened the old project and it autosaved that mess. Anyway I rebuit and I know where to find it now. Hope I can remember not to open the old project next time. :(

It's possible to save more than one edit, you just need to check "Enable versioning" and specify the number of versions. Both are in Prefs--->File--->Advanced

If in doubt always open the Autosave copy because then you'll get an Autosave copy of autosave copy of <your file name>

Either way you still have the original to go back to if that is the one you want to use or you can save the autosave copy back over the original file if you wish.

Not much consolation now I know but at least you'll know for future reference.
