Aux no sound unless soloed

Hi all,
I have a project where the auxes make no sound unless a solo them (and No other changes)....or I solo everything with the Solo all tracks botton, it's like they can't make no sound unlessed they are soloed...has anyone encountered this? is this a bug?
I tried deleting and recreating both source track and aux track, several times, with no luck.

Just discovered that they also begin to have sound when I solo their BUS. F.ex. I have a "vox clean" track going to "vox fx" aux, both go to "Vox BUS". "vox fx" can be heard when I solo the bus....and no more sound when I un-solo the bus. This is very strange.

Is another buss or track soloed?

No....f.ex. I start by un-soloing everything (just in case) with the Unsolo all track button...I hit play and there's no sound in the aux tracks...I solo everything with the same button and I get sound from aux.

Try toggling the solo(s) on aux tracks(s) on/off. When using global Solo/Unsolo, it's possible for aux tracks to end up invisibly soloed. Toggling solo resets it.

tried that already....even tried restarting sonar and my computer. I might have to create a new project and export/import all tracks

Try enabling the Exclusive Solo button up on the control bar, then solo any track, then unsolo it.

Does that work?

The Exclusive Solo should force anything that's been solo'd elsewhere (even if it's not showing) to enable when you've solo'd another track.

If that's not it, then there's something else going on I'd wager.

Thanks for the reply, but that didn't help. I created a new project, spent too much time on this. But I'm keeping the old project in case someone has a solution.

It would help if you can post a copy of the project for download somewhere.

This probably isn't it based on everything else you've already tried, but, are the Input Echo buttons on the Aux Tracks enabled?

yes, checked that already...that's why I (somehow) can hear auxes with plugins when I solo them.

As it stands I am at a loss to figure what could cause this. I have never had a problem with solo.

double check your routing man.
could have a track routed to a silent bus or something.
or its being feed in to a silent chain along the route
that's what it sounds like to me.

1- uncheck FX to turn them off completely.
2- then start by checking every output.

Just wondered if anyone found a solution as I'm getting this with every project! Using a Roland Vs100.

Tried everything with no luck...including all the suggestions above. I started a new project instead and export/import all tracks. Not good, Cakewalk.

like I said, its probably the routing as I use Aux tracks all the time.

Are your aux tracks in the track pane or buss pane?  If in the track pane try to engage echo button on aux track.

As I asked the OP, can you post an example project for download? It can be very difficult to troubleshoot routing problems without being able to see the project; there are so many ways to make something go unexpectedly silent.

And I wouldn't think this is hardware-specific, but if it is, playing the project on another system will help rule out that possibility.

I'll try and make the project available when I get chance, but I have found it happens when I use the global solo button, it seems I only get sound when everything is soloed like it's working in reverse, and nothing when it's not engaged. I have just found a way to get it to work again by first pressing Exclusive solo then solo and turning them off again, I'm at a loss it's not the only project that does this it's every time I use aux tracks?

Cheers
Steve.

Just came here for this same issue. Bizarre. Hitting that global Solo button up top did fix it but it ended up happening like 3 or 4 times in the process of working on this song.

Are you running the latest release, and is the Aux track echo enabled? I'm pretty sure the original issue with Global Solo/Unsolo was fixed. Is everything else audible, and just an Aux track is silent? If not something else is likely soloed - invisibly or otherwise. In that case you might need to go through all tracks and buses, toggling solo on/off, starting with other Aux tracks.

just shooting in the dark: you haven't incidentally caused a loop with aux routing? Sonar might just disable it for safety (would not explain why it works in solo all mode, though) ... maybe check your sends ...

does it happen in other (simpler) projects or just in one particular one?

I think you are right regarding latest release. I updated sonar for every update, have not experienced this again.
