I really think Axle Ruse is just that. A snub nosed kind of guy.

But that Jungle song. My oh my. Some tasty screeching if I ever heard it.

You know, Axel Rose is not the first performer to question the RRHOF. I thought his response to the questions about his refusal were actually pretty compelling. In a way, I think he is asking "what makes me better than anybody else"? What defines excellence? Who are the "judges"? Who is making the money?

    Good questions all I think.

    Well,
    Since we are discussing it...........................

    Honestly.......

I look at Axl Rose as an overrated duesch bag...............

I never understood the  love of "Guns and Roses"....................

Probably the last band I'd like to see anywhere let alone the RRHF............

I'd like to think that Axl really turned down the honour because he knew the post-Izzy Stradlin GNR wasn't worthy (he wrote the first 2, and a good chunk of 3 and 4 before quitting).  And that he was probably too scared to face the other guys, knowing what he'd turned the brand into...

In reality, turning it down was the easiest way for him to get publicity.

The Hall of Fame lost all credibility with me when the refused to consider Rush.  I'm sure knowledge keeps them awake at night.

Rush are the living definition of rock to me. I don't mean to say that they're my favourites, but they have been together since the 70's, putting on great shows around the world. There were real hard times for the band and members, but they're still rocking and all incredible musicians to a man.

But never acknowledged by the R&RHF.

    That's the Cliff notes version.

I didn't know that about Rush.

I find it incredible! I mean, Rush were (and still are) one of the defining moments in Rock history, up there with Cream, Deep Purple, Sabbath etc.

It's a travesty, it's as simple as that.  The continued snub of Rush throughout the past years has caused me to loose any credibility that I had in the R&RHF.  Year after year.  Is it because they are still going strong?

This is my favorite RRHF rant.

    Go Johnny Go.

I went there a few years back.  It is actually pretty cool, but the Rush snub is puzzling.  I do not really like rush, but they are the epitome of rock and roll and should be there.

I agree that Rush is one of the all time greats, the one and only weakness IMO is that Geddy Lee never could sing, but apparently that isn't a prerequisite for a rock band. His voice became a trademark sound.

The whole incident with Axle reeks to me of an anti-establishment tendency. Since Rock is based largely on anti-establishment tendencies this comes as no surprise to me that he garnered huge support from his fans.

In not complying with the people who wanted to honor him he made a statement. Did he ever question those big record companies that helped to make him a star?

Is the R&RHF the right hand of the devil? I'm sure they are like any other large organization  nowadays, probably some funny things going on. To pick on them is only the beginning of a long list.

I don't know the full details, maybe they wanted him to sign over his left nut and then I could understand his concern...or did he merely blow the whole thing out of proportion?

I'm on Axl's side ... I'm really tired of the commercialization of music and the killing of it, and I'm almost sure that is one of the reasons why AXL is not wanting to be a part of this at all.

Of all the concerts I have ever seen, G'n'R was one of the most insane. You could tell that Axl was going left and BS'r ego was going right, and somehow, things worked well, and came together ... and inevitably these would go separate ways ... it is hard playing in a band where the singer is all over the place, but makes the band come off as very good and great ... but when you lose the courage to do it, as Slash has, in lieu of radio garbage music, then ... AXL did the right thing.

You have to stand up for the art, because it is YOU ... and this was a band that was very special in its own way ... and was presenting rock music in a very different way that most were not capable of doing. To sit back and judge it as indulgent or something else is the same thing as saying that Ozzie is a saint and a musician! ... bollocks!

As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

    Hi,

""I agree that Rush is one of the all time greats, the one and only weakness IMO is that Geddy Lee never could sing, but apparently that isn't a prerequisite for a rock band. His voice became a trademark sound. ""

The problem with Rush is that it was one of the original independents and they did things their way and they got the stadium shows without the money from these idiot conglomerates that rip off artists left and right and then give them a plastic award!

It's ok ... Rush and their work will live on way past the lifetime of this hall of shame and bullmerde!
