"Azure"
I recently uploaded original song titled "Azure". I'm not really confident about this song, and it seems there are a lot to improve. Someone could consider what I have to do to improve my future composition?
Additional info: I used SONAR 30th Anniversary Rapture presets extensively.

Very nice composition/performance Kei.....I enjoyed it very much. Possibly the drums could use a little less compression and/or a little more brightness (EQing) to make it a bit more "punchy".....of course, this is just my personal taste. A very pleasant track that kept my interest throughout and you've done a very good job on it. Well done!! Here's the link:

Thank you Mesh! I'm really glad you enjoyed my track. And you are fine. Because this is my first attempt to use "hybrid" type drums sound, it was very difficult to process drums tracks. Next time I compose this kind of song (I'm not sure when), I will mind your advice. Again, thank you for your feedback and help about link.

A few things came to mind. The drums don't fit too well into the mix - at least the snare needs some reverb and eq to make it sit better with the rest. The hi hats are a bit low in the mix and a bit muffled at times. Pads I think could be toned down a bit, let the other elements shine thorugh a bit more eg around 0:30. At times its very busy, just so many things competing for the space. The mix is at its best when you don't try and put too much in, and keep the bass line a bit simpler eg 3:30. The mix has better clarity then. Bass is nice and clean, if a bit busy sometimes especialy when you have a busy lead line playing simaltaneously, but the kick is not, its often buried.

Thank you for your comment eph221. I'm glad you enjoyed this song. "In sky" is really I intended to be imaged. And thank you for detailed advice ULTRABRA. Yes, arrangement is what I really matter. I felt overall instrumentation is a bit too dense, but I couldn't identify how to fix it. Your comment was very helpful, thanks again.

Other than the mix suggestions above, which I do agree with, I think you have a nice tune here. Pleasantly melodic with a nice arrangement to tie the pieces together. I thought the breakdown in the middle was a nice touch before taking back off again.

I think Ultrabra made some good comments. I'd drop the airy pad's volume when another instrument is coming to the front for a feature. I'd say drum editing could be your friend - the patterns are repeated too often and overall for this kind of piece, the drums are kind of busy in my opinion. You could give the drummer a valium, or send him off to Cirque du Soleil. Meanwhile it shows a lot of thought and even more promise. I liked the airy floaty quality very much, but I liked it best in the breakdowns where the drums were taking a break. Good one! cheers, -Tom

Thank you Tom! I'm glad you liked some part of this piece. And drums, yes, I didn't mind the drum patterns so much. All of your comments were very fine, thank you again all.
