BFD 2

Anyone have any experience getting BFD 2 to work running X1 x64?  Are you using bit-bridge or j-bridge if it is working.

Thanks,
Jim

    Hi Jim,
Seems to work fine here.  Using Jbrige.

Works perferctly for me too, using BitBridge. I keep all its samples on their own drive (my pc has 3 drives btw) which I've always found helps massively.

    Hi Jim,

BFD2 is not supported under 64bit but it works fine for me and a load of other users.

You don't say what is not working exactly.
Is X1 opening BFD2 OK? and does BFD seem to respond to midi?
How are you routing the audio outputs?

I don't know what bitbridge is, but BFD2 works fine for me in X1B 64bit.  No problems at all.

Works fine for me under bitbridge.  Just be sure to download and install the latest updates from the FXPansion site.

Thanks guys, I just purchased the GEN 16 VOL 1&2 of the Zilejian vault and want to use these as my "special" cymbal library but they have been released for BFD2 or ECO only.  They look great and I got an offer I couldn't refuse for both volumes.

Currently downloading latest version of BFD 2.

I'd like to see if I can get BFD2 working in Sonar x1b so I'll start here:

Yes, Sonar opens BFD2 ok, but BFD does not respond to midi.

    I/O settings are:

    All ports omni
audio is output to the master

midi controller is an APRO 300 in the correct octave range.

Tested everything in standalone mode and everything worked.

Do I have to be running Sonar in ASIO driver mode?  I'm not.  I'm in WDM.

Thanks... Oh - using the latest BFD2 update 2.2.2.3 combo beta...

I do not believe it will work in WDM mode any longer if you are using the latest version. Try version 2.05.10 which was the best version I used for WDM. Also, try to never install anything BETA from BFD if you can help it. I've had more issues with their beta stuff than any other beta I've tried to use.

One other thing, you don't say in your post whether or not you had your midi out on your midi track set for BFD and midi channel set for 10. If you haven't done that, make sure you try it. You may also need to enable input echo on the midi track.

BFD2 running smoothly here, jBridged. However, when I delete BFD2 from the synth rack, the Mouse Cursor disappears, no way to bring it back on any Sonar window...

I'm running BFD2.2 with Sonar x1b 64 Build 255 under Win 7 x64 - the only issue I have is with synchronized playback - BFD2 doesn't start playing automatically in synch along with Sonar - I never had this issue with Sonar 8.5, however not sure if it's an X1 issue for sure or not.  Is anybody else experiencing this issue with X1b build 255 x64?

    Thanks

Downloading the program update only from their update site.. not the sample data, just the program update. Much smaller... was like 86 megs.

For those running BFD under Bitbridge, check whether SONAR is adding an empty buffer of audio to the beginning of rendered tracks, causing them to be late by whatever your buffer size is after freezing/bouncing/exporting. I reported this against BFD Eco, and the problem report is Submitted to Development, indicating they were able to reproduce it.

The good news is that it doesn't happen with Jbridge. The bad news is that I've seen it happen with other Bitbridged synths. You could easily overlook it if your buffer is small, but if you ever export a project with your buffer set high for mixing, you'll hear the late drums. I'd be a little surprised if Bitbridge doesn't exhibit the same problem with the full BFD that it does with BFD Eco.

I try to use Jbridge as much as possible to avoid this problem.

How do you determine what kind of bridge you are running? I installed BFD2 on my 64Bit system and I don't remember installing a bridge. It just works.

SONAR will automatically use the included Bitbridge to bridge 32-bit plug-ins in a 64-bit environment. Jbridge is an inexpensive 3rd-party add-in that you can install and set individual plug-ins to use in lieu of Bitbridge. It can bridge some plug-ins that Bitbridge can't, and doesn't cause the focus issues that Bitbridge does by running bridged synths as a separate application.
