twaddle Found a little youtube vid for protools. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYa0eLW3UAw Steve
Thanks Steve, Great vid. The blue / white looks a bit cold but I like the new layout & gui. Much more functional than the previous version. Plus separate Snare Rim channel- YES! Downloading now, should be done around midnight.

The download is progressing a little more slowly than I would have hoped. It been going 12 hours - 40% done. Does anyone know if you have to close license manager for any reason, will the download continue from where it left off when you restart?

Thanks, I won't provoke it unless it absolutely necessary. Odd that it says 21.2 GB out of 37.9 = 44%?????? But its coming slow by steady.

Just a quick word of warning to those using the download ticket. There is a problem with internet explorer so if you can make firefox or chrome your default browser that should help. If you want to do that here is a work around posted on the FX Forum by Rail (he da man) They have also just added a new link that you can "right click" and "save as" so one way or another you should get it. I just downloaded the new library last night, not sure how long it eventually took as I went to bed but it said, "one hours" and after 2 1/2 hours it was at 74 percent so was probably just over three hours which is pretty good for 37.9GB. It did for me. I needed to re-boot & when I ran it again it verified what was already dl'd, then continued on from there. Make sure to hit 'Pause' first! Maybe their servers are busy. Mine was finished when I woke up this morning, installing the samples now.

One of the things that really impressed me, and has nothing to do with the new work flow, new sounds, new effects or indeed any new feature is the new lossless compression format that has enabled them to compress 167GB of audio data in to 54.5GB. It doesn't just give "less space required" advantage but also reduces ram and disk streaming usage. I was quite blown away by that. Read all about it Here Steve

Well, The house breakers tripped and all the power went off. Once I restarted the down load in license manager it resumed where it left off. It seems like a pretty solid download manager.

I guess I'm lucky. It took about 6 hours or so for the download, so I had some time to play around with it last night. A bit of a learning curve, but I like what I hear so far. I'll post more when I have time, but first impression is that it will be a decent upgrade for me. Now the only problem I have is finding time to really dig in and have some fun with it.

Hi Guys When you've had a chance to install (after all your massive downloads!) could we have some feedback - I'm interested if they have made any improvements to the groove library browser - I have Eco and the main reason I don't use it much is that I never liked the library browser much. Also does anyone know if they have announced an upgrade path from Eco? Thanks Nigel

I'm a bit mixed on how they did the browser. I think once I get used to it I'll really like it. There are a lot more filters and I think it is a pretty big improvement. It reminds me a bit of a cross between EZDrummer filters and the way NI products have filters at different levels. The only thing I haven't figured out with it is how to bring up one particular Groove Monkee library. I've found Groove Monkee in the filters, but it doesn't necessarily break it out by library. This way might actually be better once I figure my way around though. You can filter by time sig, genre, and a few other items to find what you are looking for.

Genghis thanks info appreciated - I think I am going to have to see this before making a decision on BFD3 - I got Eco for next to nothing but as I said I have never really used it - this function does seem a problem, especially with third party stuff - Addictive Drums is also not great at this. Surprised they have not looked at something like Superior Drummer or Slate and said lets just copy those - they seem the easiest and of course display third party stuff correctly Again thanks Nigel

Well, it is much more like the Superior Drummer/EZDrummer approach. (That's the one thing I don't like in Addictive Drums as well) The only thing that was missing was being able to select a particular library, but I think that would be available if GrooveMonkee updates their libraries to have that data. There is an option to select a library, it's just grouping all of my legacy GrooveMonkee stuff together, if that makes sense. I'm hoping there is an update on the GrooveMonkee side to add that in. I'll try playing with it some more and see if I can give you any more specific feedback later.

I'm working with FXpansion to either updated BFD3 to use the original library names.. or we need to update our library names in all our palettes. The grooves themselves are playing fine -- their library name isn't being used in BFD3 (as they are in BFD2) yet... We will have a resolution to this for our libraries in a few days. Thanks, Rail
