    Wow!!

They kept quiet about that one.
Although I never use Eco I still think it's about time it had a bit of an overhaul.
I still think (sound and featurewise) it has more appeal for me than EZdrummer but as "an equivalent"
I would like to see something like the EZdrummer search and find interpreted into Eco.

The demo packs are great feature though.

    Win 10 doesn't like it....tried Admin, compatibility for 7, 8 etc...nothing...crash and burn.

    1.5 works fine...

Strange, I'm on 10 and no problems here.

    Did it create crash logs?

    Oh dear,

I've had this before with the crash log generator not always producing but after a while they have appeared after 4 or 5 attempts. Might be worth crashing a few more times to see it it will generate a log?
At least that way the bakers will have something to work on if you want to report it.

Does it crash as soon as you've fired it up or does it require some interaction from you before crashing?

I've just downloaded all the demo packs for it and am falling in love with it again, still prefer it to EZdrummer since I rarely use midi loops which is the only thing I see in EZdrummer that Eco doesn't do as elegantly.

It crashes on opening...I uninstalled in completely...did I full reinstall of 1.5.0.11 and then
    the update...still crash and burn....

Will do a full reinstall again, then install each subsequent update...check each as I go...

    Super.

To be honest I don't think you're missing much apart from the demo packs which we already have access to as BFD3 users but still, nice to keep up to date.

I just went to the DL area and this update is listed as a Public beta. Since I don't use Eco I will probably just leave it be. I did DL the recent Public Beta of BFD3 though as it is my goto Drum VI.  Will do a system image and then install.

Most fxpansion updates are listed as 'public beta' and always have been, if not they're listed as either major or minor.
It does put people off but I've never had any issues with them, it's just their terminology.

As a beta tester we have our own forum and the updates are posted weeks or months before hand and are listed as, 'private beta's' so public betas just mean they have already been through the beta testing process.

I was going to say,  "the BFD3 demo packs are in the new BFDLAC format and so they will only work in BFD3"

But, I just checked the BFD Eco demo cache and they are also in BFDLAC format so this must surely mean that Eco 1.7.0.5 can read the new format?

Will have to ask the bakers but they didn't mention it on the eco forum.

Have just discovered that, 'nearly' all my expansion kits are loading and working in the new BFDLAC format so if you have any expansions that you converted to the new format you can point Eco to them and see if it picks them up.

Unfortunately all my the kits in BFD3 format but all the individual kit pieces load in BFD in Eco now.
But it seems the 3rd party ones don't, so can't load the BFD3 kit pieces as they were recorded by Platinum Samples.
Actually, the Chocolate Audio Imperial kits pieces are loading so some 3rd party kits do load.

I would actually have to load the kit pieces and save them in the Eco format to load full kits.
Still, if you have other fxpansion kits you can just point Eco to them and if it doesn't like them it will tell you so ;-)

The new update appears to be finding my Platinum Samples kits ok. In the case of Rock Legends it shows up under the "Kits" tab, and in the case of Evil Drums, they show up under the "Preset" tab.

All my kits and kit pieces are in BFD3 or BFD2 format so Eco won't load them.
It has picked up the PS folder now so the kit pieces will load. I just checked the PS site thinking they might have the kit presets in Eco format but they don't.

I have the Andy Johns & Joe berresi kits but can't see any presets in my account.

Under my Preset tab, the Evil Drum ones show up as "EJB... ".  I can't recall if I got those Eco Presets off of the Fxpansion site, the Platinum Samples site, or the Evil Drums disk. I probably did the preset downloads from all of them. BTW, I just logged into my Platinum samples account--and there are Evil Drums presets for ECO.

That's odd, they're not in my account, I have Evil drums and Andy John Classics but all I see for both of them is the manual, the drums and an extra kick. I'll email Rail to see if he can sort me out some.

I think this came up once before. I think you see them if you have the dvd version otherwise it's incorporated into the download installer. Or I could be totally wrong :)

Yeah, Rail will fix you up. In my account on the Platinum Samples web site, it is the first download for Evil Drums under "US Central Server". The file name says "BFD2 presets", but if you look to the right under "Description", it indicates that it also includes Eco presets.

I think this came up once before. I think you see them if you have the dvd version otherwise it's incorporated into the download installer. Or I could be totally wrong :)

You might be right. I have the DVDs.

Steve has the download version and installed the BFD3 option.. which, since the file format isn't (or at least wasn't) compatible with Eco didn't install the Eco presets.  If he'd installed the BFD2 option it would have installed the Eco presets.  I wasn't aware that the new Eco supported the new file format… so I've emailed Steve the presets and I'll create an installer for the download option today.

    Thanks,

    Brilliant,

Thanks Rail, just got your other email.

Yeah it's weird, fxpansion haven't mentioned anything about Eco being able to read the BFDLAC format in their release notes and I've had no notification from them of the update.
I only discovered it via this post from gmon72.
