BFD2 sale

Just thought I'd share this, BFD2 is on sale till the end of March for $149 which is a $150 (£76) drop in price.
Just checking their site, the current upgrade price is £129 ($199) so you're saving £30 ($50) on the upgrade price
so if you were contemplating upgrading this would be a better choice I think.

     That's a pretty good price.

I recently bought the upgrade at Sam Ash. At first I thought that there was a mistake on the price because there was a copy at the store listed for 99.00. I called the store and the manager checked their system and determined that the price should have been 199 for an upgrade from BFD eco or 1.5,but it was marked for clearance at their store ONLY so I got it for less than their cost at 99.00!!

I had to buy eco to get the upgrade so I'm not ahead by much. I can't wait to load it up and give it a try.

This deal has me wondering if there is something else coming over the horizon at BFD.

So you only just bought BFD2 then?
    That was lucky.

Make sure your BFD2 data is installed to a separate drive, it's a whole lot of data

Thanks Steve, HDD expansion plan already in place. 55gb is a whole lotta data.  This is a good deal on a nice drum package.

I was slightly leary of loading a "beta" program, but so far 64bit BFD plays very well on my win7 system. The installer did try to put the 64 bit file in a strange folder. No problem though, because the installer lets you choose the destination folder.

I  successfully used the 32 bit VST in my system with no problems. Can't wait to get more in depth with this program!

So if bought BFD, would there be any point on upgrading Eco to 1.5, infact would I ever need to use Eco again? If no that would effectivly drop the price to 86 quid, which is quite tempting.

    Re:BFD2 sale 2012/03/03 06:59:18 (permalink)
I had the same quandary too Glyn,

Owning both Eco and BFD2 I wondered what was the point in upgrading since I already had the extra kit pieces but I decided to go with it for two reasons.

One is I'll probably be getting a laptop at some point this summer and although I will install both Eco and BFD2 I would like to have Eco installed just in case I run into problems (not that I'm anticipating them) but I  just wanted to keep it all 64 bit.

Secondly was that this will be the last update for Eco in 32 bit and all future development of Eco will be for the 64 bit app only.
I decided it might be worth staying with it just to see what new features occur in future and £13 seemed a reasonable price.
Eco has a few nice little features that I would like to see ported over to BFD2 although they might not all be possible.

If it turns out to be a waste of money I can console myself in the knowledge that it wont have been much money wasted.
Always a good policy in my book

    Steve

BFD2 is now available via electronic delivery. It's around 13GB compressed (unpacks to 55GB on disk), so you need a good fast connection. Note that the downloadable BFD2 data is stored as 20-bit audio (120dB dynamic range) vs 24-bit for the hardcopy (144dB dynamic range). Apparently, no audible difference.

Can anyone recommend the type of 2nd drive you are using?  I have an ASUS computer and are you installing an internal HD or external?  Thanks.

     Rimshot,

I just got a WD 1.5 tb internal drive. WD has a 5 year warranty. Just don't forget to either take a pic of the tag before install or write the numbers down to register the drive on the website. The important specs for streaming files  are 7200 rpm. preferably a 64 mb(or better) cache,SATA, 100mbs read or better. This is an internal drive. I'm sure the guys in the computers/hardware thread can also help. I have had no problems with mine since I put it in several weeks ago.
