BIG Problem in MC3...
What's up, everyone. For basic recording needs, MC3 works great for me. At the moment, I'm trying a new style of music, dubstep, which requires a LOT of LFO Modulation. Unfortunately, there's some problem SOMEwhere that keeps turning envelopes off!! After I play the MIDI clip through a coupole times, being able to hear the envelope modulation, they turn off. They're still visible on the track view, it's just that the LFO is no longer modulated. Could someone PLEASE help??

what LFO are you modulating? we need a little more details on exactly how you're accomplishing what you're doing.

(Sorry about not being back in a little while.) I'm modulating the LFO speed. TO get really technical about it... (You probably won't care bout this part) I'm using AM Freehand with the preset 'Woof Bass', a couple preset waveforms, and some customization of the filter and modulator envelopes. Nothing big, it's just that the envelopes straight-up stop working after playing them through 3, maybe 4 times. One little fix I could do is remove the VST then reapply it. That might work, but I don't want to rely on it.

Wish I could help, or offer advice but I have no clue what you are talking about and/or what dub step is..... although, to my credit, I have heard of it.

What I would do in this situation is bounce the track to another track. Include automation in the bounce, then archive the original track. That way you can play it all the way through as you automated it. The archived track will still be available to use later if you decide to change anything. Maybe an email to Cakewalk support will work.

Woah, I feel REALLY dumb, totally wasn't aware of this awesome Track Bouncing feature... (Although I knew about bouncing in general). Unfortunately, It's appear as if this synth isn't compatible with the bouncing function... I guess I'll have to just forge ahead and try the best I can (unless someone has another solution...) Thanks, you guys!

All synths will bounce..... slam anything hard enough and it will bounce.... or splatter.... I select BOTH tracks of the synth... the midi source and the audio output...hold the control key down as you click the second one.... then choose the Bounce to Track> what you hear and OK.

Hold on, I do very well remeber 'What You Hear' being an option somewhere on there, but I'm not seeing it now... (Although a short while ago, my dad took our PC to some place to have it cealned, and I had to refix some directories and stuff. Is it a preset?) btw, thanks for the quick reply, Gh and Beagle. Btw, the VSTi is AM Freehand, as in that post you quoted.

yeah ...what you hear should be a preset for the export and the bounce options. Look around the window that opens..... it should be there.

Seems to no longer be an option for me, which stinks; I'll have to reinstall the program. Later. Thanks!

ah, sorry, I didn't realize that was the name of the VST. I've never heard of it. WHAT YOU HEAR is a soundblaster setting, not a setting in MC. that's not something you have to worry about in MC unless you're having problems with recording and can't record without getting your backing tracks recorded wtih your current tracks. if it won't bounce, then it likely won't play either, tho. what soundcard are you using and what are the settings for the driver mode? (if you don't know, look at the driver mode at OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED)

Well, to jump a bt further into the matter, I'm running on Windows 7, and from my understanding, I was to set the Driver Mode to MME (32-Bit), although... I don't know for sure, but I feel like I've used it with other Driver Modes. I don't really know how to answer the soundcard question, because it seems to cover a wide range of topics. But in hopes of getting right, I'll say... I'm using a pair of heaphones, and it's a generic card. (Although I'm guessing that doesn't answer it either.) Btw, here's the bigger problem: I currently have a total of 12 different DXi plugins working. But I'm not able to get any more, no less go up to 16! This is a HUGE problem, because some of my tracks are using additional effects like reverbs, amps, and stuff to stack on top, but now I'm making a new audio-midi paired track for a new DXi VST, and I think I've run out of usables. what can I do?

It's possible that you have reached the limitations of MC3 with plugs. All of these programs have a set number of synths and plugs. What you can do is put the plug in a buss and run several tracks to the buss. This works bets with like kind stuff like back ground vox and guitars... another option is to bounce the track to another track and "print the FX" on the track. there is no turning back once it's printed.

The sound card will be whatever is listed as the recording or playback timing master under Option>Audio. Or whatever is listed as the output of an audio track. If you think you're going to be pushing the synth/effect limit often, I recommend you come into the 21st century and get one of the new X1 programs which have no such limits.
