BOOST11 FANCLUB!
I just want to be the first to say that I am a PROUD member of the BOOST11 (THE ORIGINAL BOOSTER) fan club. I use it on pretty much every project, it works awesome & I love it. I know there are newer fandancy ones with fandancyier interfaces but BOOST11 is my "LOUDER" (but not distorted) gun. Who has the cashews to join me in this??? :0 -Shawn Lee

I'll join ya. I have other limiters, but I like the no fuss no muss 2 button Boost 11. I keep the boost under 6 and it does not sound bad to me. Warning! I do not have trained ears.

Boost11 to me is the Spinal Tap of plugins. I suppose a fan club is in order, considering. However, I much prefer the Concrete Limiter fan club. Its the one where the cool people hang.

I like Boost11. I've had it since it was exclusive to SHS6XL. It's easy to use, and it's not shy about revealing a bad mix. I learned early on that if Boost 11 sounds like crap, I am most likely feeding it crap. Back to square one. It has been a good tool for refining my mixes.

I think it's a useful little tool, I prefer the 64 Multiband for the Master bus myself. But I will slap good ol' Boost 11 on certain bass or Kick tracks sometimes. The only complaint is they should not have set the default so high, It needs to be toned down to work right.

I've definitely used it a lot in the past. I haven't used it in a while though. Back when I was learning how to apply limiting, I would just bounce and normalize and then apply some boost 11 to trip the top peaks and raise the whole mix a 1dB or 2. just a hair. I haven't used it in a long time though. I liked that you could just apply it offline. I wouldn't audition it. I'd do Process > Effect > Boost 11 and just set it to 1 or 1.7 dB or so. I was applying limiting visually, not listening to the mix.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I'm not really an experienced limiter user and I have only used two to date. Boost11 and the new Nomad one so obviously this is a VERY... er... limited (har har) perspective but I found the Blue Tubes one is a lot smoother sounding on my stuff. However my music is COMPLETELY different than yours, Shawn. I could definitely see B11 being more desirable for electronic music. To me I just want to bring up my levels and round out any peaks (if I even let it touch the peaks). I found the B11 made things kind of harsh. Have you tried it yet? I'm curious what you think of it. In fact I'm really digging that Blue Tube stuff. I didn't think I'd even use them but they're pretty cool and they cover some hardware models I never would have been able to afford from other companies. Cheers.

It's an important point, almost half the "masters" I have got back from various people I had noticed all the peaks were beheaded and flat, I didn't even bother listening to them. Pure vandalism IMHO.

Yeah, I found that out after destroying my first "master" of Beeps Creep with B11. Wasn't the plug's fault though. I'm just an idiot pretending be a not idiot. I've been kind of catching up on this whole loudness wars stuff and I think I'm going to take the stance of letting things breathe naturally. The little whippersnappers can just turn the friggen' volume up if they want it blasting.

I use it sometimes on individual tracks, but not for program material. It's not as "clean" as some other options, but sometimes that grit is exactly what's needed

hmm... Now I want to try using it to squish the heck out of something then turning the track down to fit it back into the mix. Might be interesting because it does seem to have a specific "flavor" to it.

I agree totally with Craig on this. Basically Boost 11 crunches (distorts) anything going through it. (If you cannot hear it you have a problem!!) So for pristine final mixes it is definitely not the go. If you use it on a final mix you are severely compromising it. If you are really serious about keeping your final mix totally pristine this is not the way to do it. I tried it once and heard it immediately and never used it again. On tracks maybe but it does add crunch and to be perfectly honest it is not nice crunch either. (IMO) PSP Xenon, now there is a limiter! Totally opposite to Boost 11. Could be said it is one of the best limiters on the planet. At a cost though. If you are really serious about maintaining mix integrity this is the only way to go. This one is free: http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/limiter6/ It might have a bit of a learning curve but I suspect it is way better sounding than Boost 11.

CakeAlexS After much experimentation I ended up using this (and it is free): http://www.yohng.com/software/w1limit.html Not for those who like flashy displays and blinky things.. Cheers
+1 This is very close sounding to the waves L1 it is based on just with a more limited feature set. When I need a fairly transparent limiter and don't feel like screwing around with too many parameters, this does the trick every time
