BROKE AGAIN BLUES (VIDEO)

I think we posted the audio for this song back at the end of last year, or close.  I am posting it now with the video that Dan Bates did for the tune.  I didn't expect it and we were very grateful for it.  It added some fun to the tune.

BROKE AGAIN BLUES is a small part of what happened to me after I left the Army Spec Ops, Ft Bragg in 1968.  20 years that should have been devoted to music but was really fog world for me.  I found my way back due to the love of a good woman (thanks, Ruth) and a later a great songwriting pard (Thanks, Mark).  Enjoy.

Dan Bates- Organ and video production
Mark Cline- Guitars, percussion and mix
Warren Willingham-Vocals and bass

Hey Warren, this is really well recorded -- the mix is great as is the arrangement.  Vocals are spot on too.  My only nit is that sometimes the bkg. vox seem to be a tad loud in the mix in that they jump out.  Perhaps a more "ghostly" effect with them blending in the background would do -- just my opinion.  Enjoyed this -- good one!

Back when I worked for a living, I lived walking distance from several blues clubs and the Jazz Showcase in downtown Chicago. Spent many evenings in them. This took me back...in a beautiful way. Thanks!

Allan- Thanks for the listen and the comments.  I agree at times the BGV were a bit loud but we are beyond softening them at this time.  Thanks again for commenting!

Maartian- Thanks for commenting.  Halsted street was where I used to go for da blues other than the clubs we played in back in the 60s. Hey, I see you are in Flagstaff!

Makke- Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!  We appreciate it.

Sounds good to me! Love the beat. A good blues song has to have some gravelly vocals, and your vocals were spot on. Great guitar licks(nice job Mark!). Great mix!

Very nice, super clean blues guitar, tasty licks throughout. I especially liked the chorus, very well mixed that.

I could honestly do with a little less, or a little lower volume as has been commented on, from the South Chicago Singers, who actually to me sound comically chipmunk but that's what you are going for, yes?

The video was fun but surreal in it juxtapositions. Hey, why not!

LAstly, vocals have a nice growl and bite.

    Cool blues tune fer shure.

    cheers,

Great job on this Warren....very clean/clear recording/mix/performance. The only thing was the backup vocals/sound fx voice were a bit distractingly too loud. I was focusing mainly on the main vox/guitars/drums/bass....which were done really well. Loved the lyrics too...

Groovin...    This sounds like something my band would play!

My only nit is the same as the above - those South Chicago Singers tend to be very siblant.  Probably not in the cards, but I wonder what those parts would sound like using a sax sample.

Otherwise, for me the song is just right.
