BUG REPORT - Dimension Pro 1.10 x64 crashes on Windows 7 x64 and Sonar 8.5.x Producer

Every time I try to start the x64 PlugIn of Dimension Pro, as delivered with Sonar 8.5 Producer, it freezes for a while and when it's up, I just need to click one button eg. selecting an instrument and Sonar immediately stops completely to work and has to be killed by the Windows Task Manager.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, an high-end x64 machine with 8 CPU cores, 24 GB RAM, 8 SAS drives in a RAID 0 and an RME HDSPe AIO PCIe audio interface, so the system shouldn't be the matter.

I got this bug in Sonar 8.5.0, 8.5.1 and 8.5.2. When I run the X86 PlugIn which is also installed, Dimension Pro comes instantly up and just runs as fine as it should.

Does it say version 1.10? Then the update to version 1.2 is missing...

so the system shouldn't be the matter.
not always the case, not sure how it's sharing IRQ's on your machine.. also AIO is quite a new card (still haven't got to buying one yet) :)

is that the only thing your having issues with , it could be software.. or even drivers being tripped up. You spoke to RME also (even though they are on point with drivers) ?

I have the same exact problem. All versions of sonar producer 8 and up to the latest patch.

But i run Vista 64.  and a motu ultramk3.   Dimension pro does the same thing you said. Crashes my Sonar after it freezes too. All my other plugin's work just fine.

    Any solutions folks?

I've got the same Sonar deal plus-
Opening DP x64 as a new project loads on its own but there is no audio. Loading D.P. VST 64 or DX into projects with East West Play 64 and/or Kontact 4 (64) crashes me,usually with an "Unhandled Exception-dimension pro 64- Error-Crash Dump"
Yet it plays fine (won't load) in projects it was recorded into pre 8.5. I also get similar and other "wrong" behaviors with TTS 1 &RGS. These crashes for me are always in attempting to use these Sonar instruments in conjunction with 64 versions of Play ,Kontakt, & UVI  so far. Tech tells me as of Dec 31-09 that they've heard of other instances recently with DP,ADK has had several instances of this now, I know of 8 that I've spoken with now since the 31st, all involving both New Project singular DP, TTS or RGS - INSRT -SYNTH RCK apps or in attempting to use these Sonar Instruments with other 64 libraries. However, one fellow says it works fine in Cubase.

Sorry-forgot to add I'm running Sonar 8.5.2 Producer in Vista 64, a custom ADK Quad Core,8 GB, mutiple 500's and everything else I use of V.I.'s (19 libraries) run fine.

Dimension Pro x64 doesn't crash my system; it just doesn't do anything.  no sound.  the 32 bit version works, but who cares?

3.5 Ghz AMD 6-Core/16 gigs RAM, Roland Quad-Capture, Win 10, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Komplete 10, z3ta+, Z3TA+ 2, Rapture, Maschine 2.7 (MKI & Jam), Melodyne 4 Studio, Ozone 4, Jam Origin MIDI Guitar 2, Schecter Damien Elite, Fender Sonoran w/TronicalTune Plus installed, etc

    About DP x64
Just got off the phone with Ck Wk tech--
The VST is 32 only, no 64.
The DXI is 64 ONLY with the 1.2 update.

Same problem here but I can't get sound even with D-Pro 32. Any tricks on even getting the 32 version to work in the interim? In stalled the 32 version of sonar and 32 D-Pro and I get the audio engine but no sound...

    Thanks.

I have a very similar problem with Dimension Pro 1.2 even runing the DXi plugin on Win 7 64bit OS with Sonar 8.5.2pe.  I get hangups, and Sonar locksup; sometimes distorted patches for a moment or two.  This problem only happens in my 64bit version of Sonar 8.5.2.  No problems running Sonar 32bit version.

I have reported it to Tech Support at Cakewalk as a bug, but have virtually given up on using Dimension for now (and Rapture which also has a 64bit bug).

Please everyone make sure you submit a problem report to Tech Support!

Tech support was unable to figure out the Rapture x64 bug, and believe me, it's a killer!

Wetdentist:  Thanks, but why was Cakewalk recently having that sale on Rapture full version for $49 if they know it does not work in the 64bit domain?

I have given up on using Rapture and Dimension for now.  I really think that Cakewalk needs to give priority to getting their Software Instruments being fixed--they are still marketing them, but they do not work properly, and I think they know it.

    Sorry, just venting.

    Vent away Cecelius2!

I submitted a bug report a month ago and it's still not been updated from the original 'New' status.

If there is anyone from Cakewalk out there PLEASE inform us as to when you are going to fix these 64-bit/Windows 7 issues with Dimension Pro and Rapture- this is the LEAST you can do. Also- get more people working on your bug reporting- if you want to deliver quality software by encoraging people to give you feedback then you need to focus on setting some service levels for updating your bug reports.  The alternative is people will get hacked off with Cakewalk and go for alternative DAWs/instruments.

that is a good question; i was wondering that myself when i saw the promo.  maybe if a new person buys it, that means there won't be too many older projects that need Rapture, and thus create a conflict/crash/freeze.  i do, however, have faith in Cakewalk's ability to fix these things soon, though.  i would be very stoked to regain confidence in Rapture and Dimension Pro
