BUG REPORT: Sonar crashes when undoing a synth template.

a) Run Sonar in administrator Mode
 
b) Insert via media browser:
Soft Synth Track Templates/Combos/Deep Bass hold use MW.cwx from template. You need to drag the template onto an empty area thus creating a new track.
 
c) Get a warning - Missing Plugins Dimension LE (Synth Rack) could not be found! Note I have a full Sonar Producer install. Note I have a full Sonar Producer install. Assume this does not come with 64 bit???
 
d) Click OK
 
e) Test (play your keyboard) and you will see anyway it's working
 
f) Then undo the last operation (insert synth) using CTRL-Z
 
EXPECTED
 
Undo operation completed
 
ACTUAL
 
Crash.
Get exception code c0000005
Address 0000001401F05AA

So to confirm you inserted exactly the same synth template (nb I didn't specify, did you drag the template onto an empty area thus creating a new track?, I revised step B), and THEN attempted to undo it with CTRL-Z?

I suspect what is happening is that Sonar is attempting to remove a non existent soft synth when undoing via CTRL-Z. There is probably no code to capture this exception hence the crash.

NB quite a few of these templates seem to supply non existent synths, agree they need updating.

I tried inserting the Deep Bass hold use MW.cwx template both by dragging from the browser, and by using Insert > Track Template from the main menu. Undo did not cause a crash in either case. Both tracks and synths (including the Dim Pro LE placeholder) were deleted without errors.

The issue may well be related to the missing synth, but given that I can't reproduce it, it would seem there is some other factor contributing to the problem in your environment.

You might try adding an instance of Dim Pro to the project, assigning the inserted instrument track to it, and re-saving the template, and see if it still has issues. I suppose you won't know which Dim Pro patch to use, unless you can get someone with LE installed to open it up and tell you, but at least it will tell you if the missing synth is the problem.

I've had a crash when undoing a Session Drummer 3 synth template via CTL-Z. I can't make it happen on command, but I have seen it more than a few times. Seen it with TTS-1 too, so I don't think it's limited to a particular synth or template.

I always right click in the track area and tell it to insert a synth template that way. I don't do it through the browser.

Cool, it would be great that you could submit a seperate bug report and attach a dump if this happens, just to back this up.... so it doesn't get perceived as "random".
