BUMPED for feedback, needed for this

http://soundcloud.com/brokdnb/lotus

Bump for advice/input
It is my daughters newest song. She is concerned that the sub may be too loud and is concerned about the vocal level and is interested in anything you have to say. She had to mix with headphones due to circumstances. I don't even have a sub and my monitors are not up right now.

Any more help?? Please... (thanks Bapu)

I will forward this link to her so she can get feedback. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Bapu. It sounds fine on my phones but I don't have my monitors up, I had to move 'em.

Man this forum software is BAD... I tried to bump for a little more input and got an error screen, it posted but didn't bump the post...

AGIAN... can someone check the sub and vocal levels and since she has just started audio recording in the last few months (she has worked with midi for years) ANY advice or input is needed.
Trying to bump again.... (fingers crossed).
    Thanks!

Thanks for your message Julien - I reply to it here so you can have it all in one place;)

The track sounds pretty good to me. Bass is a little outside of the mix - loud and perhaps to much mids - and the vocals are loud. May be turned down a few decibels. But good choice of sounds. Perhaps the beat could be slightly higher and made in-your-face a little more to increace the intimacy. The track is pretty cool, like something from a movie because it's so minimalistic. well done! Your daughter has talent!

Thanks for the input. I don't know if she has signed up here yet but I asked her to. I really appreciate you and your help! She told my yesterday that she liked your music. I pointed her to you and to Ben. I hope anyone who listens and has an opinion will chime in.

    I;m listening now on cans.

The bass sounds good.... the song is not a genre I listen to often. The drums are very repetitious. Maybe thats the style.

Over all the song gets better to me as it goes.  I was a bit taken back by the bass to start but now as the song is developing, it works.

Not a bad mix overall. I could not hear the words clearly, but I suspect that's how it's supposed to be.

    Good job to her.

    Hi Mariush,

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Ill take your advice and turn the bass down a bit. I have KRK5 but like my Dad said, I do a lot in the headphones, and then every little bit listen to it on the speakers. After posting the MP3 I listened to it really loudly and backed up a bit and noticed the floors shaking. The advice and the mids I will also take into thought, I really dont have much experience with developing low range subs, but i will try reducing the mids to see what happens.

As far as the vocals, do you mean the actual vocal line where I am singing, or this "heya, heya, heya" which repeats over and over?

Thanks GH Im happy to hear your feedback too, Im glad that even though its not your style and had a slow start, that it won you over a little bit anyway. :-) Because I come from drum'n bass electronic dance music background, you can hear a lot of infleunce in there (repetative drums) and darker heavy basses. I normally have intros and bring bass sounding lines in later in the song but since that bass sound that is already in at the beginning was at first my favorite element, i thought why not just have it in at the very beginning. :-)

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to listen to my track and give Feedback.

    Take care,
    Becky

Low end sounds splendid on my Yamaha sub. Very melodic and artistic. I loved the sparse melodic voice in there. Reminds me a bit of the cub music in the video game "Vampire the masquerade". Very nicely done

Becky you need to post your newer song on soundcloud... I like it. I forwarded you a message there from someone else that has a lot of technical advice.

    Talk to you later.

Jbow and Beckyb I read and as requested had a listen.

Like to hear it through a Pro Logic system I suspect that some of the phasing could produce some interesting spatial effects.

The bass was a little in the face in the beginning but as Herb noted it came too in the middle, when it went missing at the end it had some impact.

    Thanks for sharing

Sounds good to me.  Repetitive, as much of this genre seems to me sometimes.  I like it when the vocals are in, it breaks it up.  I'm also listening on Sennheisers and it sounds pretty darned good.

Julien, subs sound fine over here. The whole mix sounds nice and clean. I think her vox might come up a tad due to their being sung so low....they need to cut through the drums a bit.....Just opinions... but the overall sound is very good.

Everything sounds fine except for the vocals. It sounds like your mic is in a big can and your singing into the can or something.

    Nice song though.
