I also agree. I noticed the bass and drums stood out a lot more right away. And wasn't even looking for it (didn't read your post until I listened). Great song! Sounds great.

That break was a reach... On my toes, balls clenched firmly (one in each hand) it was worse than a TSA pat down? Chin up, veins popping, diaphragm tight. "except I want you by my side" and "Don't you know, the times I tried." Thanks again for doing this one with me Mark, it's one of my all time favorites, even if I did have to abuse my junk to get up there. You're welcome for that visual. I think your new mix is killer. The guitar tone is perfect. She looks good in Baby Blue...

Gents, Thanks for the validation. I was very surprised by the differences between the original and the updated mix. Essentially I just threw the plug-in in the tracks and picked some presets for the various instruments as an experiment to get a feel for what the plug does and this is the result. Now I am considering picking up the Waves NLS as well. Not quite the same thing as the Redd Console (which is a Channel Strip and Console Emulator), NLS is just a track and bus Console Emulator of SSL, EMI and NEVE. I do like the ProChannel Console Emulation and have noticed a better result with it, however, I feel that the Redd Console, for example, added some extra magic to the bottom end that has eluded me in the past. Regards

This sounds more like an analogue recording than ever. I've been using the console emulation in pro channel a lot, recently, and I agree that it adds something to my mixes that wasn't there before. However, this demo of of the Redd Waves Console is very impressive. I'll have to look into this.

Very subtle. But, I can hear it on my laptop. It's like a glue that sort of meshes all the individual sounds into one cohesive sound. Wonder if some sort of tape emulation would do the same. Same idea anyway. I think it would be pleasant to mix through this plug. Nice stuff Mark and Robbay.

I use Saturn? It is a very nice saturation plug-in? And it gives you the option of what type of saturation to use, and which tone bands, etc... l don't know if it works the way the plug Mark has used here? He is much better at the mixing than am I, "much better." But the whole idea of an analog console? Is at the very basic level I believe, "saturation?" There are many tools to accomplish this? Lots of good ones, like the WAVS plug Mark references here? I personally use, "and really like and recommend?" http://www.fabfilter.com/products/saturn-multi-band-distortion-saturation-plug-in Not saying it's the same, better, or worse? Just that an analog console plug basically emulates old gear? Which basically introduces distortion? That's not a bad thing? In fact, it can be a very good thing! The cool thing about Saturn is that you can use it as an effect on a drum bus? Or you can use it as a distortion effect on a guitar track? It's very versatile. Again, this is not to take away from anything WAVs is providing! I think the remix sounds much better. I'm merely discussing another tool which "may" be in the same family? There are many other sat plugs, many less $$ but also perhaps less goodness? (WAVs and or Fab) Nice plugs typically cost a few bux? You can get free ones, but an argument can be made that they are free for a reason...

It does sound more glued together. Which, of course, is just a fancy way of saying it is harmonically smeared! Wonder what we would say if we grew up in the digital age instead of crappy vinyl records...

Lynn - I think Waves has extended the Redd Console March sale and it is available yet for $149. One of the things I like about it, besides the fuller analogue console sound, are the Abbey Road EQ curves. There is a video on YouTube where a gent reviews the Redd Console features. I think it is Zo from the Cakewalk Forums. The bit I was particularly interested in were his review of the Tone Controls and subsequent EQ curves between 4:31-11:42. Vicente - Thanks, that is exactly what I heard with the plug, Warmer and more fullness. Phil - Makes perfect sense, this is exactly the sound that I felt has eluded my mixes from the beginning. They are all just a bit sterile sounding. I feel this plug has added some nice dimension to the track. Gary - Thanks for the comment, I am happy with the result. Tim - I actually have Cakewalk FX Tape Sim on all the guitar and vocal tracks. It does help considerably to take some harshness away and add a bit of meat to the sound. I feel the tape sim and the ProChannel Console Emulation together made a good combination but I just don't think it was quite as good as this. I could spend hours tweaking but would rather stick a plug in the track and call it a day;) Thanks for the listen. James - You ask an excellent question. I grew up in the 70's and harmonic smearing or "the analogue sound" was what we had and it was pretty good. This is the sound I like. However, kids today may listen to this and think it is garbage because they are used to a digital and uber-compressed sound. I am glad that this is a hobby and not a career so I don't have to contemplate this and other mind numbing topics related to the music industry;) Regards

Really fine mix! Yeah it does have that polished sound. I'm listening to the newer mix. I hear a very subtle bit of distortion, but it is very subtle and well tamed. I'll compare it to the original. Seems there on the original as well. I think it might be some tube softening used on the vocals coupled with the guitar at certain frequencies. The new mix is a tad clearer mix so yeah, I could notice a subtle difference, but overall they both were mixed very well. Great job on the production as well as the playing and singing. Kudos!

The thing about this that I appreciate most? I won't comment on my performance, My comments and appreciation are for the mix "over all" And to do that? Mr. No999 had to hear the overall tune? The drums, the guitars (which I think are really awesome...) He had to hear/feel my vox in the tune? And work them in? ================= This is really a masterful execution of 1. The singer. 2. How the music wraps around that? The Engineer is responsible for this? The Job of the Engineer is to glue **** together? And make it sound like "A performance?" Mr. No999 has a particular gift in this area IMO? I mean, the man can play the damn guitar, OK? He can play it well/hard... And I put his skills up against most (very talented) However, as referenced earlier? It's not just about the performance? (Otherwise you'd be watching me in inappropriate films?) So it's not just the performance? It is also about the engineering? It's a delicate ballet? And I believe you can't have one without the other? They both contribute to make (hopefully...) The masterpiece? We have several colabs? This is one, our hope is that they continue to improve. It's the Ying and the Yang. Without both? You wind up with the Wang....

Sounds good. I like the mix a lot. I downloaded REDD demo and can not get it to run in X2 64bit. It works on the same computer in X1 32bit. I see it in the correct VST folders. I've wasted an hour and a half.

I'm on an older 4 core Sonar 8.3 machine, and what you're saying is one of the reasons I want to get a new PC, and run 8.3 and my 32 bit plugs forever... I have so much invested in all of my plugs that work well w/Windoze 7 and 8.3 and 32 bit? I know the X series is cool too? So I mean no disrespect for that SW or those who use it. It's just that my rig works so well as is? But I could use more computing power, and that doubles every 2 years according to Mr. Moore...
