Baby gift ideas please

I am going to a party for a 4 months young baby and I would like to hear some ideas what you think would be good presents for him. Nothing expensive though (less than 30 euros or 35 dollars).

Without knowing what the baby already has, it might be a bit of a challenge in not duplicating things.

If you're buying clothes, always get it in the bigger size range (in this case....9 - 12 month).
Possibly a musical toy that's good for a 1 yr old might work well.
A gift card at a baby store is also useful as then the parents can decide what's best.
Whatever item you do buy, you can/should attach the gift-receipt..........in case they want to get something else instead.

My little girl just turned 1 a few months back, but a lot of the toys/other stuff she has are from the left overs of her older 3 siblings.

And call relatives (what our family does) to prevent duplicate gifts. Gift card (as Mesh mentioned) is the other alternative to prevent duplicates.

I have 4 kids. The toy that they liked the best at 4 months were the toys that dangle and slowly spin above their crib. Something they can also reach for.Sounds when touched got a reaction. Laughing cooing etc

I forget. What's the appropriate age to give someone their first Led Zep album? I'm picturing a 4 month old belting out Black Dog.

Anyway, I'm guessing that you would like to be invited back again someday, right? In that case, I'll leave the crib-mounted camel spider mobile off to the side for the moment. Infants like musical objects, but a singing Billy Bass can creep them out. I'm just sayin'...

Bright primary colors, funny sounds, and rounded contours are generally well received. This is why babies love Bapu. Just ask him the next time he's around.

Thank you all you wonderful people, for the great suggestions! I have bought now an adorable (I hope) white wabbit (cost me only about 8 dollars), but am still gonna buy little something if I find a good place and product ofc. I am also in the process of getting my ol' main computer working at full throttle after moving back home again after a long time of being away from home because of big repairs in the house. I had to end internet and tv contract because of my long absence from home and now I got only mobile internet in use. Soon I will hopefully get all the essential services working again.

As for me, the best gift for baby will be playpen. Parents can put their baby in it and do something at home, they will be always in baby's sight. Baby plays in playpen with pleasure, also could sleep in it. I select gifts at SelectInGift, there is a list of gifts for babies by month.

Hi,

I was gonna say ... a nice psychedelic pacifier ... but maybe not.

I'd just give the mom a nice Gift Certificate, and let her make the call. Toys are kinda fun for 2 hours and then done! We do the same thing here with songs!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

A book.  The baby may get (hopefully) a few of them, but the likelihood of getting
the same ones isn't that big.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

The Kama Sutra? (... at least will be useful in the future!!! But mom and dad might steal it?)

We all came (9 children!) from a house of literature with over 40K books of literature. I can honestly tell you that if someone/anyone gives me another book, they will get a picture of what to do with it a week later!

That is an area that is so mis-represented and understood, it's not funny. Sort of like ... someone giving me a Harry Potter book, and I am not into fake mysticism, or cardboard/movieset mysticism. Now, if you give me a nice hardbound of Whitley or some fancy name out there in the world of the real arts, instead of mumbo-jumbo, I think that not only will I read it ... I will enjoy it!

A new paperback of Jackie Collins. ppppaaaaaallllllleeeeeeeezzzzzzz ... better fit for the bathroom for me!

Isn't 4 months when most kids are getting smartphones and iPads?  Why the question, does this kid already an iPhone/iPad combo?
