Bacon...

CraigB mentionner something about "Canadian Bacon" the other day which left me perplex because, well, at least in MY Canada, bacon is, uh bacon.
 
And according to some of my fellow Canadians who've tasted both US and Canadian bacon, bacon back home is actually tastier. ;)
 
But we just stopped by the nearest Fresh and Easy and I spotted something which looks like that:
 

 
Which, as a Canadian, I would label as some kind of ham, or "jambon" as we say in French. Not too appetizing, cheap, deli type of jambon at that.
 
Unless things are different outside French Canada...

I remember when our American friends came to stay about 4 years ago they remarked how different our bacon was to what they were used to.
 
Scottish butcher Simon Howie makes some lovely stuff that I can get in Sainsbury's, but only when it's on offer.
