Bad Songs You Can't Get Out Of Your Head for A Couple Days?

OK I am stuck on that
hey hey you you I dont like your girfriend
right now

Others that are always dangerous
Safety Dance
We Built This City
Copa Cabana - another one I hate.
Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across a crowded floor, they worked from 8 till 4
They were young and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

Some people call me Maurice

Try "Raindrops keep fallin' on my head"

    and to get you going......

Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
    Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
    Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'

But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Besides mine, I can only remember hooks (not songs) which have permanently scarred me for life:

    Stevee Nix hooks like:
"if ya don't luvs me a-now, ya will neva luv mi agen"
"Shhhaow .. dow ... running w di devel"
"ya wil neva hol' da chens" "neva, neva, neva" (did he/she say that?)

I can't ever get her meth-spam out of my mouth!
Hand me the vomit bag, Stevee!

    Some lessor viruses:
Jimmy Buffet" "some peeper se that thes a womin to blem ... bu ah know" (etc.)
ELP: "Deaath Iiz Liiife" ... "Pull Jeezus from a hat", "Thas why Hi keeled ... sis million Jews"
    ELO: "Shine the Li...eet"
    Clapton: "she'da gonna lak ... k..k..k..k...Cooocain"

I think that falls into 2 catagories...

    1. the ones that just make you think WOW... some are growers that you don't think are nice but over time get better

    2. Instantly annoying ones that normally infest the charts and are forgettable well they would be IF they didn't have them on loop on commercial radio (which is why I don't listen to it.hehe)

Wonder Pets, Wonder Pets we're on our way
To help a baby animal and save the day
We're not too big and we're not too tough
But when we work together we've got the right stuff
    Go Wonder Pets! Yay!!!!

If you don't have small child, then you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

Alright, I'll admit it. I actually like this song.

it's a great song.. produced by a legend also (Stevie Wonder).. they recorded it in the studio and something was missing from when they practiced at her house.. the birds singing in the background

although more people now know of her work besides that obviuous song thanks to people like 4hero doing covers etc.

I have a buddy I play golf with, and whenever he starts getting the best of me, I simply sing "Why do birds, suddenly appear, everytime, you are near?" Within about 3 minutes, he'll begin humming the melody, and his golf game goes bad. I pulled this on him about 4 times, until one day, after the round, I was driving home (counting his money) and he called me on my cell phone, and began calling me every name he could think of for sabotaging his golf game with that &^(%$$% Carpenters song.

    How about:

See if you can get to the bit where the chick goes....."I'm gonna make your life so sweet" and then forget about it.

Other Brits will be irritated if I mention Carl Douglas's "Kung Fu Fighting" so I'm not gonna because it's likely to persist for days so I'll just post a link instead.

    Hi, Randy,

LOL. The Carpenters used to drive me absolutely nuts. I couldn't even stand to hear some of their ultra-pop stuff.

Then, one day one of their songs came on the radio while I was chatting with a musician who I really respect. Of course, when I heard the Carpenters, I physically cringed and made some disparaging remark about them. My friend looked at me kind of funny and said "Have you ever *really* listened to Karen Carpenter's voice?". I admitted that I hadn't but I started to actually listen to her from then on.

And, you know what? I came to realize that she was an incredible singer. She could infuse a melody with the most intense emotion, pathos, and humanity. She had a way of expressing things in an achingly beautiful way. To this day, I still get chills down my spine when I hear certain of the Carpenter's songs. Pretty weird, huh?

That said, "Close To You" is still a hard sell to me due to the bubblegum nature of the tune, itself. ;>)

    Best regards,
    Bill

Yeah, Minnie Ripperton sucked. Glad we don't have too many recordings of her. Amazing she got a record deal at all.

Edit: Just read another post in this thread. Yeah, the Carpenters sucked too. And that "Close To You" song. Talk about a hack songwriter. No wonder it did so poorly on the charts

Hey Space - maybe you, OlPal, and McCue could start a songwriting class. You guys know so much about everything. I'm sure that includes how to write and produce a hit record. Heck, maybe you three could influence technology to take a 10 or 20 year back-step so there would actually be hit records (CDs) again. This downloading thing is really going to cut in to your sales.

she could actually sing and will probably be remembered for that 1 song at least, more than anything your likely to record. You know why they don't have too many recordings of her ?

pity you don't put your brain into gear before typing such dross

Come on now Fog. Sure she could sing.......and, unfortunately DID! She was doing Mariah Carey before Mariah was born. But that one tune is like fingernails on a blackboard, a metal spoon in a metal pot, bleach mixed with ammonia and inhaled deeply........well, you get the picture: running from the room screaming in a straightjacket stuff.

Is it any coincidence that I recall my first wife from that same era?

Yeah, Minnie Ripperton sucked. Glad we don't have too many recordings of her. Amazing she got a record deal at all.

she could actually sing and will probably be remembered for that 1 song at least, more than anything your likely to record. You know why they don't have too many recordings of her ?

pity you don't put your brain into gear before typing such dross

You have to be f***ing kidding me. Of course I was being sarcastic. Minnie was one of the greatest singers of all time. She passed way before her time. That record, "Lovin' You", as well as all of her other work was of the highest quality. She was highly respected in the music biz. Check that with Space, OlPal, and McCue to verify my info. I may be totally wrong. It all depends on what they say.

And BTW, among others the Carpenters' songs were written by Bacharach/David and Paul Williams. Can you say songwriting hall of fame? Again, this is all subject to approval by Space, OlPal and McCue. Hope they approve 'cause I think these people were great!

And it will be again...you'll see!

Think a happy thought and close your eyes until you can see some pink fluffy clouds....there.

Now, I wonder if anyone accidentally hummed any of these tunes today...

I did catch myself briefly singing 'Lovin' you is beautiful' but cut myself off right there.
