BandLab Assistant Stalled on "Installing" Step

I downloaded the BandLab Assistant and tried to install BandLab Cakewalk.

It downloaded two files to my Downloads directory:
  • cakewalk.exe  (size:  674,390 kb)
  • instruments.exe  (size:  919,667 kb)
The notification band switched from "downloading" to "installing" and it's been that way over-night.
Terminating the BandLab Assistant and re-starting it, has it displaying the "installing" notification, but nothing appears to be happening.

What should I do to fix this?

I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Mine did the same. I clicked the downloaded cakewalk.exe file and it installed. I already had the instruments, so didn’t click that, but I suppose those would also install by clicking.

We've heard many reports of BA apparently hanging, an apparent bug in the program. The easy workaround is as juan47 suggested: simply run the downloaded executables. You only need to run instruments.exe if you don't already have SONAR installed. Otherwise, just run cakewalk.exe to install the core application.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Thanks to all who replied!

I ran the cakewalk.exe file and it installed the new BandLab Cakewalk program just fine.
Thanks also for the tip about not needing to run the instruments.exe file, as I have all the instruments that have been bundled with the various versions of Sonar, X1, X2, X3, Platinum etc. that I have installed in the past.

After the installation succeeded, I loaded and listened to some Sonar projects and other than noticing a slight timing jitter on first play (that disappeared on subsequent plays), everything sounded as it should.

I'm really happy that BandLab didn't let this wonderful program die as it really is great DAW program and there is just so much hard work and creativity by the Bakers that has made it what it is.

Thanks again bitflipper, fitzj, and jaun47!

I keep getting "setup files corrupted, please download another copy of the program". I downloaded the cake exe without instruments...double click and that's what I get. Delete the file, redownload...it's a different file size each time.

    Hey Danny,

BandLab assistant was just updated. I just saw it today. You might want to check for updates. After I updated it, there was also an updated version of Cakewalk reported in BandLab Assistant so I went ahead and did that and all seems well.
