Banjo
Does anyone know if the stock X2 Producer has a banjo? I have Z3ta 2 as well. I was looking at lyrical distortions banjo. It sounds good but does anyone know of any other? Free is best.

I do not believe so; just searched the all the Programs, Multisamples and Audio Loops for banj and found only one preset in Rapture "06 - Keys' called Banjitar.prog (also part of Sound Center). It does not sound like a banjo to me. When looking for specific sounds with unique names like this one, I find it faster to search the directories using Windows search rather than opening up the synths and browsing patches.

Thanks Scook. I'll check the rapture preset and see if it's doable.

+1 on Realtone banjo. I was looking for a Kontakt bango recently and ended up getting Realtone banjo. It was (maybe still is) affordable and it is simple to operate. The other one that was also intriguing was Boulder Sound's bluegrass banjo. Anyway, if you just google "kontakt banjo" the results show several others as well.

Lyrical Distortion's Banjo is multi format, so it comes in SFZ (as well as Kontakt and others), making it an option for non Kontakt owners. I have not tried it in SFZ or Dim Pro as I have Kontakt. The Kontakt version is reasonable but you wont get the key switching with the SFZ version. Boulder Sounds "Blue Grass Banjo" would be my recomendation but it requires the full version of Kontakt.

I haven't used it yet, but didn't one of the freebie things come with banjo sounds? I think it shows up under synths.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I've got the Bolder Sounds one as well. And it's fine too. However...the Realitone has built in scripted "rolls" and "variations" performed by a real player that recognize the most used chords in bluegrass (tho they need to add even more IMHO). In other words you just play a chord on your controller and RealiBanjo plays a perfectly slurred and accented roll. It's a wonder. PS: And it still is just $29 semolians.

You might be thinking of the AAS player packs. I know that Journeys has a preset called "Bit of a Banjo"

Agree with you 1000%. The Realibanjo has six role paterns with key switching. So it is easy to use several different patterns in a verse if needed. You just hold down a chord and the pattern does the rolls for you. My only complait is that there are only six patterns. I hope the developer will expand this feature. It also has different fret positions. So playing on the fifth fret sounds different than playing the same notes from the open position. Still it is a wonder to play, a joy to hear. It is nobrainer for $29 if anyone is in the market for banjo samples--especially if you don't play a banjo. I really like this product: http://realitone.com/realibanjo

I have never once thought about using banjo in a song but I'm seriously thinking of buying that, if only on the strength of the animated doggy. What a great instrument. I played banjo years ago and kind of miss it.

Mosvalve Can I use the Realtone Banjo with the Kontakt free player?
I just checked RealiBanjo's FAQ and it says "nope". Here is exactly what it says: With RealiBanjo, you do need to own a full version of Kontakt 4 or Kontakt 5. This is different from the “free” Kontakt Player that you would use with certain sample libraries (such as Realivox) that are programmed to run on the Kontakt Player. So how can you be sure which one you have? The Kontakt Player says “Kontakt Player” right at the top. If that’s what your version says, then RealiBanjo won’t work.Well . . . it will work, but just in what’s called “Demo Mode” for 15 minutes at a time. You can keep reloading every 15 minutes if you like, but that might get a little tedious.

There is a banjo sound in the Tts-1 GM player in Sonar Producer. It is fairly good. I have used it on occasion and it sat in the mix pretty good. It is fairly convincing when mixed low with several other instruments. As most samples, when played alone or soloed it loses something in the translation! LOL!
