I don't know about anyone else, but I'm starting to wonder if anyone has ever seen Bapu and James Brown in the same place at the same time. Are we sure they're not the same person? Hey, Rimshot, if he points to you and tells everyone else to give the drummer some, then I think we'll know.

When I first saw this thread, Bapu B40 - Links coming soon, I thought it might have been that Bapu was going to release a cover of a UB40 song - Bap u B40 - UB40 . . . see ? I did think it might have also been something to do with the Rush R40 thread, but chose to go with the above But as it urns out . . . this is much better . . . in the end it's an internet forum, and much more than that, this is the ground floor of said forum, maybe even the gutter. So really . . . who gives a sh!t ?

Susan G It definitely feels like the Coffee House is a strange clique now, although some "serious" threads are apparently allowed to pass through unscathed. I'm not comfortable posting a "serious" thread, since I have no way of knowing if it would pass whatever test is in place before it was morphed into a joke. Weird, though. I liked it better the way it was before. -Susan
The CH, like any forum or subforum, reflects the people who post there. Thus the only way to change the culture (if need be) is to contribute. Personally I don't think "clique" is an appropriate term, since there's not much discouragement of anyone posting whatever they like here. There may be some inside jokes, but I don't think they are really all that "inside" since they are generally fairly readily explained to anyone who asks. And things may get morphed into jokes at times, but it's almost always just pure wordplay and puns rather than any reflection on the original post. Unfortunately, sometimes people here do not always honor the seriousness of a given thread, but I'd like to believe that that problem is not unsurmountable. The "strange" part is spot on though.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I just don't understand why when someone posts a serious thread such as Rush R40 Bapu systematically will post a play on words as if nothing more than to be annoying. Baps, if you don't know that you are when doing this , I'm sorry. If your intention is to annoy, I give up.

Hold on here a bit...This was the title of the thread Bapu B40 (aka The Attack Bapu Thread) - Serious discussion only please How was I to know that " The Attack Bapu Thread could mean anything serious. I thought it was a joke, otherwise I would have been serious. And I am sorry I did not read the whole thread before I posted something. So if I offended anyone I am sorry as it was not my intent. I am new here and all I have seen so far was mostly joking around in the Coffee House. I thought that was what the Coffee House was for. A place to get away from all the serious mind bending talk about software, songs we spend endless hours working on, and reading forty pound books on Sonar and other Cakewalk products. Is Bapu on here a lot...well yes....does he make a lot of what could be construed as arcane jokes...well yes....does that bother me or make me feel left out....well no. And if any of you guys and gals ever get to bugging me I actually know how to turn my computer off or go to another part of the forum. So bottom line, I will not be a party to attacking anyone for any reason. I did my time In Viet Nam and that was enough conflict to do me a lifetime. Cheers, Billy

From being around Bapu (talk about surround sound ) for quite a few years, I know for a fact that Bapu's NOT doing this to "annoy" anyone. It's more like what Drew stated.....just a play on words.......what's a better place to do this than in the CH? The CH is a great place to hang out, take a chill pill, relax, and enjoy the fun......if someone doesn't like to have this kind of fun, just avoid reading Bapu's posts.....simples!!
