Bagpipes were designed to scare the %&£& out of people.  Much like the siren attached to a Stuka dive-bomber was.

I wonder how Bagpipes caught on outside of a military context and yet the Stuka siren didn't.

I thought bagpipes were tuned in the key of M.  A little lower than Am.

Bagpipes are tuned? 

What's the difference between an onion and bagpipes?  Nobody cries when you chop up bagpipes.
