… it was a lot of fun collaborating with bapu and Steve and I have to thank everybody for the positive feedback!!!

Thanks Beagle!!!!
for the drums, bapu sent me a mix and the bass track.  I aligned the mix and the bass track with the click in Sonar and played along to the click and the mix with the click and the bass up loud … so, what you are hearing is just a live take.  Two overheads, a mic on the snare and a mic on the bass drum.

you did a great job, IMO.  I think the drums are excellent in this!

Hey, Ed,

Don't know how I missed this one, but it's really a killer blues rock jam in disguise with those clever tongue-in-cheek lyrics!

You, Steve and Dave did a dynamite job on this.  Great vocals, cool solos, excellent performances on all of the instruments, and the drums sound fantastic.  Is that the new blue JT Variax on your rhythm guitar part?

The mix sounds really great, too.  Wonderful production and cool, clever songwriting!

I just let the player on your site keep going, and I still really love "Line in the Sand" and your Walkin' the Dog cover.  There's a TON of great stuff on that player, brother!

Excellent job, guys!

@Bubba - Thanks for allowing me to mention you in the son. You did allow me, roight?

@Bob - Glad you enjoyed the song(s). Yes, it's the Variax on my Rhythm (center) and the outtro lead figure (which appears before and after the solo too)

@Bob - That "Walking The Dog" was arranged by Philz. I only played bass, mix and mastered it. Thanks for listening.

@mgh - "love the vocals"???!!!??? Now I'm sure you've lost your hearing

@Wookiee - better still, no appendages were removed (mine!) because I did not mention you. Thanks.

Thanks.

I'm still not 100% into my own voice. I liked this one because I could focus on the lyric and not so much the sound of my voice.

Re:Bapu's Coffee House Blues 2011/12/05 19:16:03 (permalink)

Bapu's Coffee House Blues is a fun witty number. As it's namesake indicates it's a blues song written with tongue in cheek humor for the folks in a forum online called "The Coffee House". Everyone knows Posts counters matter not with the Bapu, yet he writes a  blues song about post counts. This indicates to me a contradiction of priority's. None the less it is a fun song.

One thing that this author has to give a great big Kudos to is that Bapu's mixing ability has improved 7000% over the 3 years I have analyzed or have been forced and tortured to listen to his music. Yes, Bapu's mixing ability has become better than average in that regard. I am quit proud of him. The musicians he used from the coffee house are outstanding and I particular liked the guitar work.

The Vocals on this track are a much and welcomed improvement to songs I have heard Bapu sing in the past. However, they are still out of key, out right pitchy, lacking in emotion, and still not particularly good. Let's get real here and call the vox track for what it is. Awful! The vocals, not unlike Bapu's post counts, are suffering, and that doesn't seem to mean much to him.
