Had another bummer last night.  Found out that a local friend passed away yesterday.  Just turned 61 too.  That's three in the last three weeks!  Damn epidemic going on...

Today is going to be a good day.

I'm working only for 1/2 a day (at least only be here for 1/2 a day).
The other will be spent standing in line at DMV to update my license.

Today might end in a bad day.

Isn't 1/2 a day still 12 hours?

It's much, much longer than that at the DMV. I believe they run on Venusian Time. (1 Venusian Day = 5,832 Earth Hours)

The fred title changed, but nothing else.

Re: Somewhere Jan is still laughing at this fred 2015/03/19 08:34:51 (permalink)
I think I've found a solution for Daylight Savings Time. The problem is that we assumed that the goal was to save daylight on Earth. Jupiter's day last just a little under 10 Earth hours. It's spinning very, very fast. You know that feeling when you're on a merry-go-round at the park and it's really moving fast and then you throw yourself backwards and hang your head over the side? Well, Jupiter is really nothing like that, but if you'd like to think of that as an example, you can. (But it isn't...)

Anyway, I was thinking about how difficult it would be to live on Jupiter (aside from being crushed into a gaseous cloud and then scattered across the atmosphere by the planet's ridiculous rotational speed) with the days being so short. You would never have enough time to get things done. That's when it hit me. We should give the planet Jupiter Daylight Savings Time. I mean, if your day is only 9 hours and 55 minutes long, getting an extra hour could be rather significant.

I suggested this to NASA and they told me that this is how interplanetary wars are started.

Silly Bubba.....

Ewe don't need to live on Jupiter to experience those effects.......the FSF is already here for ewe.

Of note (on Jupiter Daylight Savings plan), I'm surprised no one suggested Pluto's Daylight Savings plan??? (It directly correlates with Earth's Daylight Savings plan.)

When I walked into the DMV, I heard (in a far corner) someone (in a Harley leather jacket with the letter The PU.....(that's all I could see from where I was)) who seemed to be frantically beating out a drum grove/loop on an iPad (it was quite loud and off time). When I got my ticket and finally walked up to get a closer look, there was no mistake whatsoever...............................it was ST3.

They haven't invited me back to Jupiter after that incident with the spot.

I've always thought that Jupiter's compression ratio was too high.

Apparently, the Government is running low on daylight so they've now started a "Scare the living daylights out of you" program.  Not sure how the agency tasked with the problem got the initials IRS though...

Sadly, I'm not rich enough to be scared of the IRS.

I Am only the village idjit, so there's a lot I don't know. One thing I'm fairly certain of, however, is that when it comes to living in this society among all of these various government agencies, the best way to survive is to avoid the Eye of Sauron. Pay the Man his due, ride in the middle of the herd, don't attract attention, and do not simply walk into Mordor. There's no reason to step on me because I'm already face down in the mud. I live to grovel. This is not the idjit you are searching for...

I have a Jupiter 80 keyboard

It makes cool sounds

I don't have enough hours in the day to play around with it

I could use an extra hour just to relegate to my Jupiter
