Hi,

Bahhhhhh ... the firewall here at work kills all the YUBS links! I have to check it at home!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Thanks Pedro.....I'll try to add that to my ever-so-growing watch list. I actually do like foreign films as they have more 'substance' than the graphic drenched modern movies in the US......it's just that I'm usually tired at night after a long day at work and reading these subtitles tend to lull me into sleep. :))

I can highly recommend the Swedish 'Millenium' trilogy ' 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' 'The Girl Who Played With Fire' and 'The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest'. They're all really well dubbed if you prefer that to subtitles.

These originals with Noomi Rapace are superb. David Fincher did a good job with the remake (Daniel Craig etc), but it didn't hit the mark for me.

...

Me check them out!

There are some foreign films, where subtitles are ... almost un-necessary. Akira Kurosawa was highly aware of the situation with his films ... so if you ever see "The Seven Samurai", you won't miss a whole lot, by not reading the subtitles! The quiet and silence is built into the film, and is one of its greatest achievements!

Few others were as aware of this, and if you watch Ingmar Bergman, you will lose the interest in the first 15 minutes ... it is almost all about the acting and the talking. But the "visual" directors, understand this, and it is worth checking.

A good start is "Visions of Light", the film about cinematographers, and some of the films they did, and in there you learn more about film, than you ever imagined! It's an amazing documentary, that kinda leads you to check out some directors and how they did things, or still do.

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Seen it 3 times I think, wonderful film.  If you don't mind a very, very disturbing film, have a go at 'Oldboy' from South Korea. It was remade (of course) but the original is the best.

Disturbing? ... try Gaspar Noe one of these days ... !!!! Totally off the wall acid and psychedelic trips and then some! "Enter the Void" makes 2001 look like a kid's film. Disturbing is not even close to the word in "irreversible", and then ... bizarrely and sick (the whole film is inside the guy's mind!!!! beware!!!) with I stand alone (Je suis seul). All of these are very difficult to work with and in the Film Festival, half the people walked out of "I Stand Alone" ... that's how much entertainment the audience is into, I guess!

I'm a son of WW2 folks that were involved in the war ... trust me ... the stories I have heard and know, I won't even discuss them ... because disturbing is not even the right word. The only set of words that "knows", is actually a movie line by Bela Lugosi ... "far worse things are awaiting man, than death ... " is all that I can tell you ... and we see and hear them on the news every day!

I just looked under a rock and found this fred!

Oh well, I guess life is filled with disappointments.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.
