You just may be one of the lucky ones....are you also on Win10? It used worked perfectly fine (without a hitch) in Win8.1 and prior......Focusrite has dropped the Win10 drivers development for Version 1 owners. I've had to sporadically unplug/plug the USB on my 2i4 for the dropouts (not just on recordings.....sometimes on playback as well). It's an easy fix, but annoying.
