Been busy converting one of my spare rooms into a "studio." I had a studio, once, but I dismantled it because I'd stopped doing stuff as motorcycling kinda took over my life for a bit. Then, when I got back into the creation process I went laptop based and it wasn't so important any more to have a fixed studio. But I was using neglecting most of my hardware stuff and I set up down stairs for a bit, but that got kyboshed after a bit because I started spreading out too much (not me personally... my stuffs). Then a couple of months ago, shortly after investing in a modular set-up, my missus suggested that I turn one of the spare rooms into a studio (my original room is now the "sewing" room). It took a while cos stuff was just lying about randomly and each time I opened the door to have a look at doing some work in there I just closed it again and thought, "sod that!" Anyway, I spent a few hundred quid in IKEA and bought two cheap tables and a couple of shelving units, just to get a bit more organised and get stuff off the floor. Nearly done... Need to connect stuff back up again and make some sounds... I'll still be "mobile" and I use my QUAD-CAPTURE for that. In the studio I have an OCTA-CAPTURE so that I can hook up my hardware synths. I thought it would be a pain changing between sound devices but Sonar handles that kind of shenanigans very well. have a nice day

I remember seeing some pics of your setup in the middle of the living room, so it's understandable the missus suggesting a studio room. It'll be your new man cave. Speaking of sewing, my missus is looking to buy a sewing machine (my two older girls are very interested in that as well). The desk for my DAW is actually from IKEA and for the past 10 yrs. or more, it has worked out great. With all your hardware synths though, you may need a few of these.

synkrotron Pretty cool that desk Mesh. Has it stood up to being used over the years?
Absolutely!! The main desk area is quite heavy and solid wood (I don't know which kind, but not that cheap compressed stuff). I Keep my Alesis QS7.1 on it as well as a bunch of other hardware/gear/monitor etc... and it has held up really well. The best part is you can adjust the height of all the shelves to your needs and the grey side shelves swivel........great for monitors. It's called the Jerker, but I don't think they make them anymore. There's also another one called the Fredrik.....not sure if they're available either, but I like their flexibility. If you're interested in these, see if you can get a used one.
