but my plan is to get a "real" bass. Will definitely be getting some advice from you, Drew, and Bapu (hey that Busta Rhymes ).
Mesh, for me it's always about the neck and string spacing. I can't play Hofner or Ibanez basses for sure. The string spacing is just too tight for me. I'd say my hand is too big but that might sound like I'm bragging.

I likes me sum big chunky P-bass necks. That's actually how I got into the whole parts bass (and guitar) thing - I wanted a P/J bass (ie. P bass PU in the neck and J bass PU in the bridge) and Fender and everyjuan else only ever made that PU configuration with those skinny little J bass necks that I hate.
