From Gregipedia: The 411 is a Buzzard's Breath Montana-based electronica/trip hop band. Formed in 1981 as 'The Infomen', they play regularly at the Long Hauler Truck Stop and Bar on highway 86 in Butte Lick, a suburb of Butte.
They had a minor hit in 1987 with their song "Data Device" from their EP "Eponymous". Following this success, they fired their lead singer and his girlfriend and guitar player/kazooist Mick Hardee took over the duties as front man, brother Harry Hardee remained on bass and their cousin Steve 'Stick' Stephenson continued on percussion and tape deck.
In 1990, while on tour in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, their van turned over when their roadie/driver (Mick and Harry's mother, 'Easy' Sue Downs) attempted a U-turn at 89 mph. She claimed she wasn't drunk, only a "little" coked up, but blood tests revealed a BAC of .3. Tragically, the van was killed in the crash and the band decided to hire a keyboard player.
After hearing numerous musicians audition, they hired Gary Wight because his name was similar to Gary Wright, notable keyboardist and writer of 'Dream Weaver' and other hits from the 1970s. He even had his own car.
