I rarely go upstairs, but recently of course to pay my respects to Seth. I wish him all the very best. I'm trying to remain positive for CW (or should I say Roland) I'm waiting to see what the next release (SONAR) has to offer. And also because there are still familiar Bakers who remain on the development team and Roland isn't about to go bust. Other DAW's to consider but for now and possibly in the future I'll remain with SONAR, at least it can handle large projects without a sweat and has gotten the job done. And like the old saying goes; no DAW is perfect.

I doubt CW is going away, there may be a new business model, however, ala Pro Tools,,, Roland is not going away, but they certainly lost their pizazz in the Intrument and Audio Arena , The new Jupiters are not the next sliced bread, like the game changing Korg Kronos was. Since DAWs are part of the MI slice, I wonder, though I have plenty of Roland Products that are not supported with updates or features anymore, the MMP2, the SI-24, the VM3100 pro, My Fantom, So I am really wondering if I want to switch to the Presonus Studio One. I tried the demo and the Gui took awhile, plus its workflow. Sonar is so dam easy to use. Its a Pickle

musicman100 the Presonus Studio One. I tried the demo and the Gui took awhile, plus its workflow. Sonar is so dam easy to use. I gave it a 30 minutes spin yesterday and had to find a tut on how to create multiple outs for drum modules (ala Addictive, TT, BFD etc.). In less than 5 minutes spent I could not find how to import a multitrack MIDI file. I'm sure it's there. Maybe just a browser drag and drop!?!

IIRC the issue had something to do with midi timing errors. Other nags was about controllers. But its been a while since and the last time I looked, I think they had fixed these issue long ago although some controllers may not play so well (sorry, I'm not entirely sure)! Overall though, I found the UI very pleasant, it's simplicity is what could actually throw people off the workflow because it's urrrm so very simple lol, but it also has a surprising amount of more advance features which are astounding such as; timing and envelope editing. And some of the effect plugins are actually pretty darn good. But the big stand-out feature is Melodyne ARA and integrated mastering; being able to switch to mix to make a few adjustments then back to master and it auto-updates. I'm going to wait for about a year before I decide IF I'll make the switch and purchase the Professional Edition, that along with Melodyne Editor (ARA.) but I'm still concerned about the midi capabilities of S1.2, the prv and the ability to handle large projects containing multiple VI Plugins. I don't like bounce or freeze anything (midi) = I prefer to keep all midi projects as is (along with backup, copies) this is my preferred workflow and it also allows me to rework, redo, or totally recreate new songs from these midi existing projects. The community there lacks an OT forum?. I dunno the overall atmosphere seems to lack that causal easy-going chilled out kinda coolness character about it. (Sorry, hard to explain)!

OK... I think I know a good place to start... to help fix the bugs in Cakewalk. First order of business... CHANGE THE NAME... change it ( egg drum roll please) to.... CAKERUN!!! That would be a huge step in the right direction... and so simple... CAKERUN!! Plus... Sonar XXX, that would attract more customers right there. Make Sonar XXX Producer so that you have to be age 18+ to buy it... that would attract more customers too... explainations, answers to why... pfffft, ignore them. Just get the money and build a bigger, better, mo phat, DAW. Make it 65bit... 64bit is so yesterday. Maybe CAKERUN could write a whole new OS. Who needs Windows or iOS? They both use i5 and i7 chips.... just make a barebones OS, just for running the DAW. Dang right... and put it on sale... buy one, get one free (plus shipping and handling), throw in some ginsu antlers and a Sonar XXX snuggie. Big Time!!! Keep rolling the money back into the DAW... CAKERUN will RULE THE WORLD!!!! BWA HA HAAAA.. (oh, and throw in a brains PC module for Bub) OK, I will take my meds now and go finish the laundry... but... someone, anyone... DO SOMETHING!!! We need some more jokes I think... British humor works for me. Heck, almost any humor amuses me... and I need to be amused. I have a headache and my BP is up. BRB...
