Stupid riddles.

A farmer has a chicken, a bag of corn and a wolf. He needs to take all three across a river, but his boat can only carry himself plus one item at a time. How does he manage to get on the other side of the river with all three items intact?

Say what?  What kind of farmer has a wolf anyway???

[pendantic]
Take the chicken over first and leave it there
Go back across and get the wolf
Take the wolf across but then take the chicken with you for the trip back
Drop off the chicken and take the corn over
Come back and get the chicken
[/pendantic]

Still, what the hell is any farmer doing with a wolf???

Considering the relative sizes of your average farmer, a wolf and a chicken how big is this bag of corn that it won't fit in the boat along with the chicken?  Or for that matter, what sort of boat couldn't carry a chicken perched on the bow/stern/mast..?  and if the bag of corn is so big that it won't fit in the boat along with either the wolf or the chicken then why is the farmer so worried that the chicken would eat it all if left alone with it?

Given that no barrow/trolley/truck/trailer has been mentioned it is safe to assume the bag of corn is small enough for the farmer to carry, further we can assume it is small enough that the farmer is still mobile enough to prevent the wolf from chasing down the chicken with the inevitable consequenses, which all only adds to the mistery of why the chicken and corn can't fit in the boat at the same time.

There is only one logical conclusion and that is if either the wolf or chicken were left unattended they would wander off, and therefore all three items must be transported at the same time.
So...  the farmer puts the corn in the boat, picks up the chicken and throws it towards the opposite bank. (chickens can fly, they mostly choose not to). The wolf, seeing his chance, jumps in after the chicken, but the farmer (being in a boat) is able to keep ahead of the wolf and simply steers to where the chicken landed and wandered to on the opposite bank.  Once the wolf has caught up all are across the river in one go.

Or you could just let the chicken eat the corn, let the wolf eat the chicken, then shoot the wolf and carry it with you.

(Why the heck would a farmer have a wolf again?)

Look at the farmer's logistical issues.  Clearly, the wolf is the brains of the operation.  The chicken is only slightly more intelligent than the corn.  The only reason the wolf keeps the farmer around is for entertainment value and the ability to upload videos to youtube.

The wolf had the farmer attempt to cross the river only to silence the stupid chicken from going on and on about that "crossing the road" story.

Pretty close...  LOL, it was late so I had to trek to Walmart.  I spend a whole $4.97 on Sutter Home.   My plan was to finish the bottle but I'm afraid I'm getting old.  I had maybe a glass, maybe a glass and a half, and now the rest of it is chilling in my fridge...   At least tomorrow afternoon, when its like, "10,000 degrees above zero and thunder storming tropic humidity," I will have some really cold White Zinfandel for my belly.
