Bapu's socks don't match??
Have you noticed that there are quite often discrepancies Bapu's left sock compared to his right sock? The right foot may say white but when you go to the left foot and it says red. Not a big thing, really, but sometimes a bit annoying. One more in the long list of flaws Bapu has. Non matching socks!

Perhaps those socks serve different purposes. Have you considered that, perhaps, the red socks are designed to address a height imbalance? I'm thinking they might be platform socks. Another possibility is that the socks might be color coded (colour coded for people with excessive "u"s) to help him differentiate his right from his left.
On the other hand, some socks may have been intended for wearing and other socks intended for stuffing.
In case he needed to cook a turkey, of course.

What's really spooky is that I have an identical pair in my sock drawer.
Must have been a buy one pair, get one free deal.

Hey, I think he took those from my sock drawer when he was here. I think he was lying about having stinky feet to cover up the fact that he has 6 toes on each foot and they are webbed but you didn't hear that from me.

Maybe that is the way you see it. Others might see it as two pairs that are identical.
