Barbara May
Breaking my own self-imposed rule here about having more than one song up at a time, but the last one is still lingering and I just wanted to mark the day in some way............. Barbara May All feedback and comments, good or bad, most appreciated as always.

Nice song mate. The mix seems mid rangey to me? maybe drop some about 400hz or where it sounds best. I like you vox. Very nice. The backing should be different but it's not easy getting help with that. Nice work!

Cool song! I like the sounds around 2:38. The low mids might be a hint heavy... I like the lyrics too.

Cool song Paulo. I like the backing - it's got a retro 80's thing going on. I agree that the mix is muddy though.

Hi, Paulo, I had to listen a few times to capture the moment with this tune. There seems to be more to this than meets the eye. Good work on the vocals and mix. I could hear every element, and I like the panning that put everything in its own space. I would agree that overall, it's a tad thin, as if a number of hi pass filters were used and set too high. But, that's a very subjective opinion, in fact, it could be the power of suggestion. The important thing is the song, and it's a good one, which is the main reason I listened more than once.

Guitarpima - thanks for listening and commenting. I'll take a look at what you suggest - you may well be right. I kinda rushed this one a bit compared to usual as it just seemed important for me to put it out on that day. Tony - thank you too. I'll take on board what you said, I think the sound you are referring to is from Absynth if memory serves me well. I'm glad you liked the lyric - it's obviously very personal, but I'm sure most can relate to it. Daryl - I'll take cool. Retro 80's ? Not deliberate, just me I think - I get that all the time - those are the kind of sounds that I like. Lynn - I think it's really great when people listen more than once - a compliment in itself I always think. I'm not sure what you mean by the "more to this than meets the eye" comment. The song is basically my reaction on the day of hearing about the passing of someone very dear to me. I never actually sat down to write it if you know what I mean. The lyric is still not written down - it was more or less as it came, as was the whole song. I was going to end it all dramatically and meloncholy at the pause, but then this other voice came to me and said the rest and so it changed into something else. Hope that makes sense. You may well be right about the mix - it was a bit rushed compared to the hours and hours and hours and hours I usually spend tweaking away ! I'll take your comments on board when I re-visit it. Thanks again.

A really cool tune I enjoyed quite a bit. Mix sounds good; perhaps the main synth has a bit too much lows or volume? Seems to compete with the vox a bit at times. Still very cool tunage here

I like the spacey feel of this. Has the same feel as "Twilight Rain" by Batsbrew (Rob Gilliland). I listen to that a bunch. I really like this Paulo. It has a "good feeling" about it. It is put together nicely and has a flow that I like. Oh, I like the majors mixed with the minors on the vocals. Pretty cool.

ohgrant - thanks for the listen and feedback - I think you may be right with the synth lows - I was playing with the fabfilter saturn plug in on this yesterday and I did notice a difference when I pulled some of them out a little. Tim - thanks for the ears and kind words - she was my aunt. I didn't put any details in the original post because I wanted the feedback to be about the song and the lyric pretty much says it all anyway. Janet - thanks for tuning in. You're so right about music - I always find these sort of songs almost write themselves and are very theraputic. Warren - I'm glad it struck you that way - at the time of writing, I didn't really have any idea where it was going, but I had a vague notion of uplifting meloncholy if that makes sense (or is even possible) I'll have to checkout "Twilight Rain" again - I know the song you mean and I remember liking it when he posted it a while ago.
