Basic Features and Improvements I Want in Sonar

Hi, before submitting my feature requests to Cakewalk (Not necessary because they read every single thread? How do you know?) I want to make sure what I'm requesting are really unavailable/undoable in the current version of Sonar (=X2a).

The requests below are listed in the order of importance (for me, of course ). Despite the number of requests, I don't think I'm asking too much, because they are all very basic features/improvements.

So, these are what I want in Sonar:

1. The name and color of an audio/MIDI clip can be changed by a right-click menu.

2. The [Pick Tracks] menu in the PRV lists MIDI tracks only.

3. This "Legato and Overlap Correction" feature in Studio One v2.5

The Length dialog (change note lengths) contains three new modes:
Legato: Note lengths are enlarged until they reach the desired overlap with the next event. Note lengths are never shortened.
Overlap correction: Note lengths are shortened if there is an overlap with another note.
Legato + Overlap correction: All notes lengths are set to the start of the next note.

4. The velocity (vertical straight line) in PRV's Controller pane displays its velocity value in a pop-up when the mouse cursor is hovered over it.

5. Marker positions can be assigned keyboard shortcuts (e.g. Num 1 for marker 1, Num 2 for marker 2…..I do this in S1 and it's VERY convenient)

6. The PRV does not display (hides completely) the Notes pane when it only has the drum map track.

7. Return of right-angled (unrounded) PRV notes  - if they wanted to make the border of two contiguous notes distinguishable, they could have just make the clip outlines darker or lighter.

8. Better optional background colors for clips. Especially, the twenty colors that appear in the drop-down aren't very nice.

9. Er......how do you explain this in English? The order of automatically assigned clip foreground colors (default ones) does not change even when the order of tracks is changed (i.e. the color of clips on the first track should ALWAYS be green unless manually changed to a different color).

10. Shortcut keys for [Unsolo All Tracks], [Bounce to Clip(s)], [Unlink…], and [Resize all tracks horizontally to fit in the window] (just like the [Resize all tracks vertically to fit in the window] that already exists)

11. Ctrl+F (Fit content) works not only in the Inline PRV, but also in the regular PRV (I know double-clicking the clip header can produce the same result, but Ctrl+F is maybe faster…)

12. The width of the PRV's Key/Pitch pane (where a drum map's drum names are displayed) is saved with the project file.

13. Separate shortcut keys for [Clip Lock Data] and [Clip Lock Position]

14. Global input quantize

15. The editor icon in the right corner of a MIDI clip can be hidden (for those who never or hardly ever use it).

16. The height of the unmaximized MultiDock remains the same after doing Shift+D -> D -> D -> Shift+D.

17. Smaller lock icons on locked clips (They look daunting when all clips in the project are locked  because I use tons of short clips...)

18. Alt-mouse wheel in the Track view Clips pane (not on the time ruler) does not change the height of the track where the mouse cursor is currently placed.

19. The left and right sides of the Control Bar's Transport module are separate two modules (for me and other laptop users who want to show more modules and don't use the left side at all.)

20. Track folders can be hidden alone (leaving the tracks inside still displayed).

21. More bright colors for groups J to Z

22. The Output fields of MIDI tracks show output names without the number and hyphen at the beginning (to save space).

That's it. ONLY 22!

Thanks

Good ideas.  Number 6 would drive me nuts, as I like having the "note" pane for my drum map PRV, but everything else would be nice options to have.  I'd submit the requests.

@ed97643: Oh, I thought everyone uses the Drum Grid pane for drum maps... You're right, #6 would kill you. I'll eliminate it from the list when submitting it.

@CakeAlexS: Thanks for adding the idea. Will include it.

Provide two views for TAKE LANES  just as we have for ENVELOPE LANES:
i.e. the ability to see lane information as separate lanes or within the track.

Essentially this would mean reincorporating LAYERS, which was the precursor to take lanes.  With my suggestion we would get the best of both worlds, and fits in with the precedent made by Cakewalk when they extended envelopes into lanes whilst maintaining the existing view within the track space itself.
