Bass Distortion
hey, im recording a band, and they want to add some distortion to the bass, any advice on what plug in to use? i cant seem to find anything that sounds good.

Izotope Trash is one option. I use an the Ampeg/Amplitube amp sims and just use the gain on the amp to get distortion on the bass (or guitar) as you would with a real bass or guitar.

Camel Crusher.. also free..
and a bit of Cakewalk FX2 Tapesim..
I am amazed how positive distortion can work on a bass within a mix..

and a bit of Cakewalk FX2 Tapesim..
Big +1 on that. Unless you're going for an obvious distortion / fuzz thing that Tape Sim is free and perfect for grunging up the track a bit.
