Bass guitar fret buzzz
I picked up a new bass guitar and I'm trying to decide if I need to make adjustments to get ride of the fret buzz. It only bothers me on the E string. Is fret buzz normal on a bass. I like the action, plays easy and sounds good through the amp. Please note I'm a guitar player and perhaps I need to get better at playing the bass. Just curious what Bass players think/expect from a bass. Thanks for any feedback.

I get a bit of buzz, but it's because i have the action set low. I COULD take in to a repair shop and have it set up properly so there's no buzz but I don't care enough. The buzz is barely (if at all) noticeable through the amp, and what little imperfection that exists just adds to the feel. In a nutshell, if it bothers you fix it. If it doesn't, don't.

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering if bass players live with it. I do like the the action low. Maybe not Primus low;)

As a bass player, along with fret buzz I also live with being ignored by female fans and sound technicians. Be prepared

Pretty much normal. Might be worth doing a quick intonation check.

Taping a large X on the floor will also help you identify your spot to stand on the stage. Depending on the placement, this may also help to minimize the number of times you fall off of the stage. HTH

I always budget in a professional setup for any stringed instrument I want to buy. It can make all the difference in the world in terms of falling in love with the instrument or returning (or selling) it.

It depends on where and when it buzzes. It might be any number of things from too low action, to the need for a truss rod adjustment one way or the other, to the bridge saddles, to something loose on the bass.
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

Yep, a pro set up is worth the money spent. I'll add, string type, due to tension of the strings. Poor fitting nut. Needs a fret level. Playing style. If you can't determine yourself what is causing the buzz, I wouldn't hesitate to take it to a Pro. I keep the action low on my Rick, but just changing string types can cause issues that need adjustments. I also play with a pretty light touch. No buzzing for me right now, cross my fingers.

I do repair and set up stuff all the time. IF the neck relief is good and you really like to dig in then it might not hurt to raise that string just a bit. I find that playing technique also affects buzz. It's easier to get buzzing when you use a pick to dig in or if you are puling up on the strings with your finger tips.
