Battery 3 in Sonar 8?
NI Battery 3 is already known to be a bit quirky running within Sonar. Has anyone tried it in Sonar 8 yet?

I have several projects using Battery 3 that I created in S7 and sucessfully loaded in S8 with lower cpu usage and (fingers crossed) no crashes from it .... some were full kits on one track and some where I had the snare and bass drum bussed to different tracks

You may want to change the title Someone will come on and say they can't find the other two and where do you insert them

...just curious what you mean by quirky your running the latest update of battery also? Sometimes I open a project and find that the drum midi track is outputting to the wrong softsynth. I change it to drum map and its fine after that, until next time. This has only been happening since I upgraded Battery from 3.0.2 to 3.0.4.

NI Battery 3 is already known to be a bit quirky running within Sonar. Hello, Not to my knowlege. I use Battery 3 with Sonar 5.2 PE. Works like a champ. I don't use drum maps. I do put Battery in the Synth Rack. GK

I use drum maps some times .. be aware it is just a midi input source so if one of your midi settings disappears in pre S8 tracks the midis will move up or down, thus your output would then point to a different midi input (or synth input) S8 has supposidly cured that

...if one of your midi settings disappears in pre S8 tracks the midis will move up or down, thus your output would then point to a different midi input (or synth input) The output was pointing to the synth listed immediately above the drum map. The drum map was still present, but not selected.

Sometimes I open a project and find that the drum midi track is outputting to the wrong softsynth I should explain that I have a dual boot system with 2 instances of the same operating system - Windows XP. The first o/s has everything installed, including virus checker and runs various background services that I would prefer to do without, but my stepdaughter needs them for whatever it is that she does on this PC. The second o/s only has DAW stuff installed and no internet connection. Sonar, Battery and various plugins are installed separately on both o/s's, but share the same multisamples, programs and templates. I now realise that the midi output problem occurs when I open a project in one o/s that has been last opened in the other o/s. Comparing the track midi output dropdown menus, there is an extra item at the top of the first list: EDIROL-PCR. The drum map is occurs 6th on one list and 7th on the other. [I had intended to include screenshots here, but the insert image facility wouldn't work, so here's a link instead] It seems that the Battery drum maps are "remembered" by their sequential position in the dropdown menu. Other instruments seem to map correctly. I have now unticked EDIROL from the output list of the Midi Devices settings (not sure why it was ticked in the first place) and hopefully the problem will disappear.

Kewl glad you figured out your problem .. so my foot isn't completly shot off after all, and I can hobble around . I have been rustrated by Midi ports before so I reasoned it had to be something like that ... I had a similar problem in that I took the default locations for folders, templates, etc when installing S8 , thinking(that was my first problem) they would be imported over from S7. I could not find my plug layouts when inserting fx or plugs , till I finially cpied the correct path over...

I should explain that I have a dual boot system with 2 instances of the same operating system Hello, You can get a dual-core laptop for $600.00. Get you stepdaughter her own! Then you can be free from dual booting. Better yet, get an additional bare-bones PC box and build a separate DAW. I've been using multiple machines since the olde 386 days. I used to call my spare machine the "taster" like the unfortunate guy whose job it was to taste the king's food to make sure it wasn't poisoned. Nowadays, I don't need a "taster"; I use True Image to protect my set-ups. I have two machines (on a dual monitor KVM switch) that are my "daily drivers." One is for everything (including audio post-pro in Wavelab and SoundForge) which is the machine I am using to compose this reply and the other is the full-blown DAW which has only audio/video apps. My stepdaughter isn't the only reason for this setup, there's my wife's stuff and all my own non-music stuff too. The second o/s allows a "leaner" installation with only the essentials present. I use the first o/s as my "taster", as you call it. I only install things on the second o/s if I am sure that I will definitely use them in projects. I am already thinking of building a new PC for DAW only use. When the prices of quad core processors fall a bit lower, I'll make a start.
