Beat Les Tronica (If Only I Could)

https://soundcloud.com/aaudiomystiks/beat-les-tronica-if-only-i-could

I've been trying to find all the composite bits for this track, which is sort of an updated electronic Beatles number.  When I first mixed and mastered it, I butchered it.  Pretty happy with this mix and master, though.

Cheers Ben

This was very good. Bit eccentric perhaps but does not bother me. Mix was good.

Thanks Antti...My stuff is always eccentric lol.  I write music for me, because I get bored so easily I have to write music for myself...all the stuff I listen to is mostly old and the artists I like are either dead, or in terminal decline.  Bowie being an exception.  So it's hard to find anything new to listen to.

I've got the mixing thing now...but the master is just as important.  15 years of my life, experimenting.  But now I've got it, the formula is tight...and I'm still improving.  The tape sim from Cake, are excellent for a bit of light compression on drum VST's, and I really got the technique on this track.  The couple of waves EQ's I have now, which I got for 50 bucks not 500 ;) always wait for the specials, also have excellent character.  The Pultec on the Vox buss really helped clear the vocals up...the push and pull technique...remove the frequency and then replace it.  I'm not writing it properly.  The Helios console EQ, is great for drums and acoustic guitar.  I've only got to get a few more plugs, and I'd be happy.

Cheers Again, and I will try to have a listen your track tomorrow...I will set aside some listening time.  Aspergers lol, if I set-up my time properly...I can get into rhythm.

    Ben

That would BE nice IF you have the time to listen and review. You can listen to this one which I think is less unfinished than the other tunes i have been upping here lately: http://forum.cakewalk.com/m/tm.aspx?m=3336691
Or you can listen to the Peace tune which is latest of mine here. http://forum.cakewalk.com...spx?m=3338837&fp=3 or whichever you like. I Am using my phone mostly nowadays on these forums so for some reason I could not change the links to desktop style.

Interesting psychedelic pop, nice arrangement and good separation between all the elements in the mix.

I like the slow steady beginning.  I wasn't expecting the pause.  The walking piano is nice.

I really like this, I hear the Beatles influence, but I'm hearing more Klaatu.

How did you make those backing vocals growl like that, they are there, but are very guttural.  I like.

What is that sound that sounds like a broom sweeping the floor?

When you said that you butchered it, I was expecting a mess, but maybe you meant that you took a hunk of meat and turned it into a bunch of smaller ribeyes, NYS, and filet mignon.

Very original.  You certainly have your own style.

    Hey Ben,
this is definitely "Ben" sounding! [D]

the "horns" sound that comes in at 0:57 sounds very "synth-ish" and doesn't have the same reverb as everything else.

one thing I can always count on for your music:  being unique!  you don't disappoint there!

Thanks Guys, the guttural is part singing...if you listen I growl those lyrics, then I've stereo panned the chorus, with one side going into a pitch shifting delay.  The broom sweeping sound is backwards reverb on the snare and the toms...but only in the chorus, and the solo.  I meant I butchered the first version...this version, I made a great roast lol...mmm roast.

    And thanks Beagle.

I don't think have to worry about the UMG thugs coming after you for sounding too much like the Beatles.
Although the song is drab, dreary and depressing, there are some really cool effects thrown in here and there. The low frequency effects in the chorus was interesting.

Hi James, thanks...yea I've used some Mellotron Flute sounds...and the cello is a bit Walrus like.

As for Pete...back are we??  Well now I know the track is good...because you couldn't be entirely negative, which is your MO.

    Thanks Ben
