Beat slicing

Just wanted to know if you can slice beats like an MPC or Roland SP606.. Does it have a auto slice feature?

IMHO this is the only short coming of Cakewalk - no beat slicing/chopping (except for Cyclone but it only has autoslicing and you can't manually create your own slices)...Disco DSP has a free pluging called Highlife that has auto \beat slicing and choping. Also VemberAudio.com has Shortcircuit Free which is a great sampler with slicing. A Cyclone version 2 that had ASDR, Velocity Sensitivity and manual slicing/chopping would be nice. :) So for autoslicing use Highlife for manual chopping us Shortcircuit Free. Shortcircuit more like MPC chopping because of it's faster easier workflow.

You can also chop/slice samples an editor and play them in Dropzone which is included with Kinetic 2.

Then there is Audacity which is free and not the best or easiest to use but not too bad either. It will allow you to chop, move, copy, paste, trim. Works okay and it is free with many free plug-ins. saves in wave format.

As far as the sp-606 on slicing it's only doe's auto . Which it slice's beat's in the middle of the kick or where you don't want it to .There is no manual chop at all :(( .And there isn't no time strech at all like it claim's to have :(( . So perhaps you're best bet would be the mpc . remember the GROVE THAT MOVES U!!
